Belmont has played well defensively today for whatever reason and Drake doesn't seem to as aggressive on defense as they have been
Indiana State is a juggernaut
What’s crazy is that, unless I’m missing something, next year they potentially return all their big contributors except for Xavier Bledson.
Nice to see Belmont putting the hurt on Drake. Up by about 20.
Belmont 87 Drake 65
Dia is a stud - 32 pts in 28 minutes and 5 - 8 from three. Best big in the MVC I'd say.
Belmont led by as much as 30 pts.
InSU 77 UNI 66 at UNI. Kent with 24, Born with 27.
InSU at Drake Wednesday.
We can beat this Drake team next week!
DAWGS!
Southern now has a higher NET than both Drake and Bradley. SIU is at #83, Drake is #86 and Bradley is at #96. Indiana State has an NCAA tourney at large bubble NET of #31. Bradley is better than their #96 NET because they lost some games they should have won with Hickman out. He is my least favorite MVC player by the way he acted at Arch Madness last year, but he is really good and the straw that stirs Bradley's drink. We need to have a stellar MVC season to get our NET down into the 40's to have a shot at an at large NIT bid. I also think it will be easier for us to beat Drake than Bradley.
@resaluki-88 Smacking someone on the road is the way to improve that NET greatly. Valpo provides an opportunity to do that. Hanging a 40 piece at their place is exactly what we need.
Indiana State is now expected to win every single MVC game if you click on their KenPom page. When was the last time that Wichita went undefeated in Valley play?

I couldn't agree more that Hickman is his teams MVP and they were not the same team without him. That being said, if any team is able to shut him down, they are beatable. Some would say the same about SIU and Johnson, but we are deeper than Bradley. If SIU were only to win 1 of the 2 games vs Drake and Bradley, I would say Bradley is the better option. With SIU's depth and, even more so their, lineup versatility I think they have a shot to beat both (although I don't see it happening).

2013-14 season.
SIU, under Matt Painter, almost did it in the 2003 season. Lost at UNI in the final game of the regular season.

I remember listening to that game on the radio - made me sick. One of those nights when we were just off. After going 17 - 1 in the MVC, we only got a 9 seed and played #8 Alabama, who beat us on a moonshot by their small guard over Sly Willis. Darren Brooks had a good 18 ft shot to win it, but it didn't go in. Had 25 pts that game.
Alabama went on to beat a weak #1 seed Stanford. I always felt if we had won that game, we would have beaten Stanford too.

I have to think they'll lose one or two. Can't wait until they play us here on a Saturday in February - think it'll be a much different scenario. Don't think Mullins will be outcoached again like he was there.
We have a good shot to go undefeated at home.
Murray State seems to have figured something out. They've won 4 in a row and have soared up to #135 in KenPom. Also, Dana Ford has to go after this year.

After the St. Mary's win, they had some momentum...how quickly things have changed in Springfield. If they can't beat Evansville I don't know if Ford is going to last the rest of this year. Looks like his guys have just given up.
