Missouri State about to fall to 0-5 in MVC play after getting thumped at home by UIC (which has looked great tonight).
Looking like a two-horse race to avoid 12th between the Dawgs and Bears, who meet two straight times this weekend in Carbondale and then midweek in Springfield. I guess Evansville could revert to their old ways and get involved in the battle, too.

At the halfway mark, Bradley, Drake, Belmont and UNI are in strongest positions for the byes, with UIC slipping to fifth thanks to a certain result yesterday. Murray is alone in sixth but only a game ahead of Southern and others.
Looks like there have been a couple bad, season-ending injuries to key players this past week: Bond for UNI and Haffner for Evansville. Neither team is especially deep so I think those will hurt.

UIC is establishing itself as the league's standard for unpredictability. In the past week alone, it has lost a tough one to SIU at home, annhilated Bradley on the road and followed that up with a home loss to struggling Indiana State. It does not compute.

They were brutal in the non-conference, unfortunately for their and the Valley’s metrics, but they have been much-improved in league play, even with some big injuries (Pozzato was out earlier and Haffner is out now).
Murky State is in 10th place this morning. Gosh, I remember the giddiness we all felt when they were added to the conference.

They’ll still be a good addition in the long-run. They have good support and are extremely competitive in NIL. They’re gonna need to move on from Prohm though, this team is way too talented to be this bad.
