They’ll still be a good addition in the long-run. They have good support and are extremely competitive in NIL. They’re gonna need to move on from Prohm though, this team is way too talented to be this bad.

That's funny; I used the Carrey quote when we were 5-11 and evaluating the chances of finishing with a non-losing season. Now, it actually seems possible. SIU would have to continue to win on the road, start winning at home and pull a few upsets, but it's not out of the question. Agree that finishing No. 4 in the Valley is the longest of long shots, but the fact we're even able to speculate about it now after the 0-5 conference start is nothing short of remarkable.

Great day for SIU. IL State loses, UIC obviously loses, Indiana State loses. Hopefully Bradley beats Evansville to get us some separation there as well.

If we end up tied with Illinois State & UIC, that 2nd game against the Redbirds would be big. Going 3-1 against those 2 teams would get you the tiebreaker for 5th

Road: Bradley, Murray, Indiana State
Home: Belmont, Valpo, Illinois State
Probably need to go at least 3-3 to finish upper half, maybe 4-2. That’ll require sustained good play.
Personally I’d settle for anything that isn’t playing at noon (8-9 game) Thursday in STL.

The Dawgs could get within one game of 4th place with a win over Belmont on Saturday but the Bruins have a pretty soft schedule the rest of the way and would probably win a tiebreaker over Southern so a bye is very unlikely regardless.
