I would like to welcome you back Mr. Fraydog to this amazing sports fan forum. I must say you come back with vengeance! LOL!
Perhaps SIUe is more talented than THE SIU, at least at this point. Coach Barone has been the HC for six years. Coach Nagy year one for our beloved Salukis. When comparing the OVC and MVC, it's similar to Popeye and Superman, one is just a comic strip character, the other is a Super Hero. 😑
Lastly, I certainly don't believe the NCAA cash will benefit the e when you have to share that allotment with ten other conference members. Unless of course the e makes a Florida Gulf Coast elite 8 run.
"In Nagy, I trusty!"
Fraydog comes around only to spout doom-and-gloom. SIU-E is not more talented than Southern. Their strength of schedule is 339 out of 364 teams in D1.
Credit to them for going on a run in the OVC tournament, though. I was rooting for Korn to get SEMO there.
Everyone is up in their feelings here.
I don’t think that SIUE has sustained success given Barone will likely be gone.
I’ll admit to the pettiness of being highly annoyed that Edwardsville is in the tournament. Salt in the wound of the now 18-year Saluki drought.
Edwardsville lost by double digits twice to SEMO prior to last night. The OVC is the 4th worst league in the country....SIU would be Edwardsville by 20. But congrats to them, they did what they needed to get to the dance.
Yea I’m not jealous of them. Who cares?
Idk what’s worse siue winning a shitty conference and making the Tourny of Salukiworld on twitter blasting that we should drop to the very same conference when we know it’s a terrible place to play.

The only thing that bothered me was that my brother-in-law, who's been to Illinois once, called today and offered congratulations on "your school" qualifying for the NCAA tournament. Had to explain to him that the schools are separate entities and that there's not much love lost between the students and alums of each. Also that "my" school plays in a much better conference. One more mistake like that and I'll have to disown him.
I don’t see how we compete with Bradley or Drake anytime soon. They’re miles ahead and aren’t going away anytime soon. And those aren’t the only 2 ahead of us
There's no shortcuts for turning this around. I think it takes 3-4 years before we're in the position to compete for a title.
I just don't get denying that Nagy walked into a giant mess, because he did.

I had to get attention when I'd been gone this long. But it wasn't hard for me to do that. I just am being real here. It's not that much different than the academic side where the leadership there is trying to get out of 20+ years of bad leadership. The good news is there's finally progress being made over there. Same goes with basketball. We can get to the promised land, it's just going to take time.

I disagree he walked into a mess. You can turn a program in 1 year in this era and he had NIL backing. The problem is, Bradley & Drake lap the conference in NIL because they got good at the right time. It takes the perfect storm like Indiana State to push them

You can turn around quick if you have strong NIL but it's going to take time to build that here. That's the whole problem with this logic. If SIU were a school with existing strong financial support your logic would apply, problem is that is hasn't been that place historically.
This Valley final second half is pure old school offensive ugliness. First team to 50 wins?
Drake first 3-peat since SIU
