Drake beats Kansas State on a buzzer beater by Stirtz
Amazing finish to a wild game. Stirtz and especially Mascari were incredible.
Drake will have a better at-large resume than Indiana State did last year if they can win the MVC regular season.
Drake might’ve had a better resume last year also, being 4-1 in the Q1. Already have 3 Q2 wins so far this season.
Stirtz and Mascari played for McCollum at NW MoSt. Mascari is shooting 52% from three and 91% FTs.
Mascari was 8 - 10 from three at KState, but he did miss a FT! He's from Geneva, IL - 6'5" guard. Last year he went 9 - 12 threes in a game.
Nagy needs to recruit some shooters!
Drake should be ranked.
Nagy's 2025 recruits are both shooters. Pauliukonis is a stretch 4 and good 3 point shooter. Walsh is an outstanding outside shooter with serious range. Although he is hardly one dimensional. Steffe will find his groove and end up being a good shooter eventually. He has the talent. Still we need even more shooters than that.Stirtz and Mascari played for McCollum at NW MoSt. Mascari is shooting 52% from three and 91% FTs.

Indiana State is 2-0. Wins over Missouri State and Murray State
Watched Belmont and UC Irvine, Belmont didn't look too bad at all. Must be something in the internet water over there because the stream was all messed up very similar to the Austin Peay game. Given the ability to shoot the 3 ball (Belmont) and the way SIU defends the 3 pt line, I don't foresee good results when playing them.
I guess Cuonzo got all fired up that less than 1,500 people showed up for a mid-week game vs. a D2 school during Christmas break.
Valpo with a very nice comeback win and buzzer beater. Had pizza money on that with a football parlay so I am pleased. They were down 19 multiple times in the second half

On the broadcast they said Valpo was down 21 in the second half. The comeback was pretty insane. Schwieger woke up in the second half and their freshman PG McNair was huge late, including the buzzer-beater from just inside halfcourt.
Amazing comeback after Valpo was putrid for about 30 minutes in Kalamazoo.

In fairness to Cuonzo, their attendance has stunk in other games, too. I guess they think they're a football school now.

Check out the half court buzzer beater!
I see Murray set a record in Diamondhead Classic for fewest points ever scored in a half (14) vs Nebraska.

Looks like Murray may be a middle of the pack team again…at least they beat Loyola, Drew scheduling soft to inflate his record.
Murray has played a decent schedule, I suppose they end up closer to top 4…but I wouldn’t bet money on it.
Loyola has a bunch of injuries but seeing them finish 0-3 in Hawaii and losing to another Valley school is comedy

The Murray conversation got me to check out what Ferguson is doing there. Averaging 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, which are in line with what I would have expected if he'd stayed and started at SIU. The one surprise is his 3-point shooting percentage -- almost 48%. It was a bit under 30% last season.
Loyola was down 3 starters. Also lost to Charleston and Oakland.
Murray appears to be mediocre. One of their wins was an NAIA school. They squeaked by Eville at home. No good wins especially. Lost at Insu by 10.
