Less than 48 hours before the National Prep Championship tipped on Wednesday morning, Sunrise Christian’s Kevin Overton announced a commitment to Drake.
He went on to put together an absolutely dominant week. Ironically, he went scoreless in the first-half of SCA’s opening round win over New Hampton, before exploding for 17 points in the second-half and overtime. A day later he put on an absolute shot-making show with 32 points in a win over South Kent. In the semifinals, he scored 19 including a number of clutch shots to lead Sunrise over Worcester Academy.
In a field that featured more than ten nationally ranked prospects, it was actually Overton who stood out as the most dangerous and consistent scorer this week.
That’s not to say he was a one-man show for Sunrise though. Not in the slightest as both Javion King and Cooper Bowser stood out among the best unsigned prospects in the field.

If DeVries stays, Drake will be just fine
@salukifan32 I'm not worried about how good or bad Drake will be - let's hope they are still good and beat up on their non-conference. What i care more about is whether SIU is good. Let's go DAWGS!

I personally like the thread as it keeps us informed on how close we are in some aspects how far away in others and what we think we need to do compared to the programs above us
DeVries' name is going to come up a lot this off-season.

Still seems a lot cleaner to have posts that are specific to the 2023-24 Valley season under one heading. Maybe not, just my thoughts.
