I'll be amazed if Drake gets in. The ncaa and the networks would much rather have a team like Michigan St than Drake. This will just be a replay of past midmajor screwings.
If Drake hadn't lost their top two, i believe they would be the mvc champs. If Krutwig does not come back, I expect Drake to be preseason favorite next year.
Yeah, agree. Even if Krutwig does not come back, it's hard to pick anyone outside of Drake, Loyola, and Missouri State in the Top 3 next year.
Remember, Northern Iowa gets AJ Green back. Really concerned about his injuries but they were picked 1st to start this year.
Oh boy
“Drake coach Darian DeVries just said that everyone is coming back next year. That includes Tremell Murphy (Griffith) and Tank Hemphill (Michigan City). "We get to do it again next year." #MVCHoops”
And that will include Devries's son coming in as a freshman who's a pretty good ball player himself
Pretty good is an understatement. He is the top recruit in the conference and is my preseason freshmen and newcomer of the year.
Even with Greene and Born, I like a very veteran Drake team over UNI. If Krutwig comes back, he'll probably be POY again. If we have Filewich, Mulia, and Ebube, we're going to be very tough to beat at home no matter who we play. Barring injuries or losing any core players, I think we will be vastly, Wonderfully improved.
I expect Jones and Domask to be all-MVC!
What do we think Loyola actually deserves as a seed? 5/6? I know the committee wants them to play a 1 seed but they are legit and will give any team a good fight with their defense.
20/4=5

The more I watch Loyola, the more I find myself liking their players.

FWIW, the talking heads on CBS agreed that the Drake was in the NCAA tourney, but that it would behoove the Valley if they put the auto bid in the bag.
I tell ya people, I’m startin’ to feel good! The Valley is going be a multi-bid league for the first time in three decades (or so it seems), the baseball Dawgs are going for 11-0 this afternoon, Daylight Saving Time is just days away, and I’ve lost 8 lbs over 14 days! Let’s go!!
Congrats on the weight loss, there is nothing that tastes as good as being fit feels.

I just made this comment a little bit in jest....but thank you! Appreciate it!
I've got to get my blood pressure down a little bit - I have pre-hypertension at age 30. Started at 5'6" 188 (Nope, I never get a rebound in intramural games 😀 ) and am now at 180. Did it through a strict no-junk food diet, a 16:8 Intermittent Fasting plan from 8p - noon, and a daily cardio workout.
@mr_woogers I guess I would have to disagree with you about Michigan State getting in. They've had a pretty strong last couple of weeks, beating Illinois, Ohio State and Michigan. Now, if you had said Duke or Kentucky, I'd very happily agree with you on that.
ESPN has Xavier as the last team in and Drake as the 2nd to last team in. I do not think that bodes very well before most of the bcs tournaments have started. Drake really needs the favorites and teams squarely in the field to advance in their tournaments and very few upsets. They need the teams in the 1st and 2nd four out to lose early in their respective tournaments. They also need fellow right side bubble teams to lose early in their tournaments potentially moving them ahead.
Drake needs these teams that are probably in at this point to lose early in their tourneys possibly knocking them out: Michigan State, Louisville, Ga Tech, VCU
Last 4 in that need to lose early to help Drake: Colorado St., Boise St., Xavier
Next 8 out that hopefully will not make a run in their tourney's: Syracuse, Seton Hall, Memphis, SMU, Ole Miss, St Johns, Utah State (they need to lose early and SDSU needs to win Mountain West tournament), SLU (SLU is trying to schedule a game this week with another bubble team to enhance their resume, they would be out for sure if they lost that game).
The above is based on espn's prognosticators, so, their bubble observations are certainly open for debate.
Some of it is obviously out of their control but Drake really played a beyond garbage non-conference schedule. They should have been on the phone like Loyola trying to schedule a Wisconsin or Richmond like Loyola did. Or even a Butler like SIU did. Their top wins this year besides Loyola is #84 KenPom Missouri State and then it drops down to #119 Indiana State.
Drake's non-conference strength of schedule would be by far the worst for a possible at-large team (312th in the country out of the 330 that played this year)
Drake's non-con schedule aspires to be "bad." Considering the announcement that basically the entire program - including DeVries - will be back for 2021-2022, I would guess they'll really be working the phones lines this summer.

It's more disappointing that it happened in a year like this season where games were being added all over the place in the middle of the season. As I said, Loyola added Wisconsin and Richmond and even though they lost both of them, it's possible it made them better in the end. I think this Drake team could have gone up against almost anyone in the country and it's disappointing we really only saw it against Loyola. That being said, I hope they're in because they deserve to be in.

There is definitely some validity to this, but they did go to Kansas State and win, the problem obviously being it was a rotten season for Coach Weber's boys.

Is it November yet?
