Another big loss for Bradley. Had 16 in our Arch Madness game and looked like he could be a good player.
I just feel so bad for them 🙄
I still expect to see a few departures on SIU this year but if they're going to keep their core in tact, they're automatically going to be improved next year in the Valley that's lost a lot of talent. Drake and Missouri State will be favorites and maybe Loyola depending on who comes back but SIU might be right up there depending on what they do with the transfer portal. Indiana State, Valpo, and Bradley are looking at tough seasons right now unless they hit the portal hard.
With all of the transfer portal entries just from the MVC so far, which seems like more than usual, and probably more to come, and then all of the ones nationwide it is going to be interesting where everyone will land and how many may not get as much interest as they anticipate. With the extra year for seniors there is going to be a big basket of players to draw from I think.
I can see Butler probably moving on to somewhere that he can have the opportunity to develop and Dembele might as well as he needs playing time to reach his potential and there may not be much for him next year if everyone is healthy. Long I would doubt would be back. But I think we have a pretty good chance of keeping every one else. But it looks like a crazy summer...
It looks like my prediction of Darian DeVries being another Ben Jacobson was on point!
DeVries just signed an 8-year extension with the Drake.
(Jacobson's was a 10 year extension in 2013)
Good to see the Valley locking up good coaches!
And as a nice little bonus, they get four years of 4-star Tucker DeVries.

Well, for a least a year or two until dad bails on his new contract for greener pastures.

I'm sticking to my position: he'll be another Coach Jake.
Mind-boggling to me that a school like Drake could be a college basketball destination.
Drake has nice facilities and it’s a similar type of university as Loyola, just much smaller and not in Rodgers Park. I think Des Moines has really improved in recent years.

Yes, the Des Moines metro area has been exploding with population and facilities. Very nice downtown also. I’ve already checked out the route and time to Cedar Falls, since we will be moving to DM in about a year.
If this trend continues for Drake, I could see them start playing a few or maybe all of their homes games at the Wells Fargo Area in Des Moines to accommodate for additional fans.

Loyola WILL be back near the top of the Valley next year. Until someone knocks them off their perch, they are still the best team in the Valley. I hope with a couple of high impact transfers, that it is SIU that knocks them off that perch.

Depends on who Loyola is bringing back. I expect someone like Uguak back but if they don't bring Krutwig and Williamson back, I'd probably take Drake and Missouri State over them. I do like Braden Norris though and they have interesting recruits and transfers coming in.
To be clear I said "near" the top, not necessarily "AT" the top.
