Ben Jacobson from Northern Iowa has interviewed for the head coaching job at Minnesota. Could be bad news for Cedar Falls.
No. Iowa hoops coach Ben Jacobson interviewed for the #Gophers job over the weekend, sources tell KSTP Sports. We hear at least 1 other in-person interview has already occurred, w/ at least 1 more on the horizon today. Utah St coach Craig Smith is expected to interview in-person.
And the Gopher message board seems none too pleased that he's a candidate..."scrapping the bottom of the barrel" I think is the term they used.

They live in Minnesota . How bright could they be ?
I hadn't heard that; would hurt the Valley if he left, but increases our chances to cement a top program again since UNI would likely have to restart.

Yeah they said he hadn’t sustained success at UNI...not sure they did much research. If he did get the gig, it would be interesting to see if the Green family went with him or if he ended up with the head coaching gig at UNI.

AJ Green is a great player but I'm not sure it's worth throwing your program at with his hip problems. I'd hope they would try to hire the best candidate.

Lowering your opposition raises your program? Now how does that work?

And Barkeep, you live in Illinois - some would question the intelligence in that! I loved my time in Carbondale, but the state itself has had issues for years!

Well moot point now that he's staying - which I'm glad he is - but if one of your competitors becomes most likely a Thursday team for the next 1-2 years due to a coaching change (and likely an exodus of top talent) then it makes it easier to reach the top of the conference. I think we've all seen what recruiting can elevate to with just a single NCAA appearance; if you can eliminate a top program, then your odds of getting to the top just got better - probably not a lot, but it should improve at least a little.

Not arguing but we don’t go 3 months without seeing temps above freezing 😁
May lose Porter anyway. There are some serious rumbles of Loyola jumping to the A-10. He is also the #1 target for Marquette per their fans
