i'm often wrong but i don't think loyola's recent success is sustainable.
Depends on Valentine as a coach. Loyola has a national brand now and a brand new practice facility with a ton of money to spend in a great city.
I know what you're saying.
I can't imagine it will be easy selling midwest kids on playing most of their games in places like UMass, Rhodey, LaSalle etc.
I think that is what has capped the billukuns success.
one misstep and it is over. Being in Chicago never helped them previously. I'm not sure how it will keep them relevant once the slide starts
Valentine was fortunate to get everyone to return sans Krutwig, so the real measure of his success will come once he's got a roster full of his recruits.

Valentine has arguably been out-recruiting Moser so far getting Jalen Quinn. They were able to hold together a good 2021 class too with Saint Thomas and Ty Johnson

Missouri Valley Conference Games for Saturday, December 11th:
#232 Charlotte @ #216 Valparaiso 12:00 PM ESPN+ (Valpo favored by 4)
Kobe King gets to face his first D1 team. Charlotte is 4-4 with wins over #135 Monmouth and #174 App State and doesn't really have a bad loss.
Holiday Hoopsgiving in Atlanta, GA
#75 Drake vs #50 Clemson 1:00 PM ACC Network (Clemson favored by 2.5)
Drake and Clemson meet up for a good one in Atlanta. Clemson is 5-4 and doesn't really have any good wins or bad losses. Would be a good opportunity for Drake to get a nice win.
#238 Illinois State @ #355 Chicago State 2:00 PM ESPN+ (Illinois St favored by 9.5)
Illinois State goes on the road and faces a 3-5 Chicago State team. Chicago State's best win this year is against #298 St. Thomas.
#169 Oral Roberts @ #68 Missouri State 3:00 PM ESPN3 (Missouri State favored by 8)
Missouri State plays host to Oral Roberts coming off their Sweet 16 appearance from last year. Max Abmas is still there but they're just 5-4 with 2 non-D1 wins.
Added Belmont (43) and Murray State (64) who would slot in #2 and #3. Hopefully Murray is added soon, things wouldn't be looking good right now if Belmont wasn't waiting in the wings.
Who, besides the Redturds, haha, has Murray State beaten this year? Take a look at their schedule, they have really been mopping up on the non-D1 teams. Only non-home games aside from Illinois State were in a tournament where they finished 5th. Let’s see how they do at Memphis this weekend.
bump 😉
Wow, I can't get over how much Missouri State underperforms. They have so much talent but man they're just not good. Mobley embodies the team......super athletic, a lot of potential but he has silly TO's, and sometimes seems disinterested.

They just beat Memphis at Memphis. RPI is now 17. Belmont has an RPI of 19, Loyola 54, SIU 208.
Missouri Valley Conference games for Monday, December 13th:
#179 Indiana State @ #176 North Dakota State 7:00 PM ESPN+ (North Dakota St favored by 3.5)
Indiana State gets a 6-4 Bison team that doesn't have any bad losses or great wins. They're basically evenly ranked on KenPom so should be a good one.
Added Belmont (43) and Murray State (64) who would slot in #2 and #3. Hopefully Murray is added soon, things wouldn't be looking good right now if Belmont wasn't waiting in the wings.

kansas city beat up a real power 5 school a few weeks ago so they should receive an automatic invitation per this criteria. 🙄 rpi isn't relevant any more and just wait until they lock horns and lose (or even win) to hillbilly state in a couple weeks. that rpi will be worse than hucky's iq.
Craving a McBride Special!

Murray is #89 KenPom & 44 NET. They'd be 2nd in the MVC in NET behind Loyola or 3rd if you include Belmont.

Rationalize all you want. Have you seen them play? They're considerably better than us right now. Good mid-major program.
a few current Net ratings:

I am kind of hoping Murray State is added just to look forward to all of these wonderful posts! 🙂
Bring on Murray State! The Valley would be stupid to exclude them if they're interested in moving. While The Vally is looking for greater exposure in bigger markets, I would prefer to see the most competitive teams The Valley can get, join the conference. Major blow losing Loyola. I never thought I would say that, but after Loyola the bottom falls out. Starting to question Dana Ford's coaching ability. Like SIU, they've brought in a bunch of talented athletes, but clearly don't play consistently and underperform.
You maybe right but my fear is they will not underperform against us.
