@mr_woogers I respectfully disagree that Michigan and  the Big Ten got it right there is no place for this type of behavior these coaches are supposed to be the grownups on the room instead they acted like petty teenagers the reason either coach apologized is to cover their backside because I believe neither thought they were wrong if they truly felt ashamed they would stand up in public and apologize not issue a statement prepared by an attorney suspensions and fines should increase dramatically

Howard shouldn't be allowed to leave campus for recruiting this is an unfair advantage other coaches will be involved with their team and able to recruit

What exactly should Gard apologize for? Trying to be a grown up and explaining himself ?

I agree with that. In no way should his behavior give him some kind of recruiting advantage.

Gard didn't like that Howard was gonna skip shaking his hand in the handshake line and restrained him with both hands from moving on down the line. Then they both did the Badger shake-it-up for a few seconds, speaking some unfriendly words perhaps. Not sure why Howard bitchslapped Krabbenhoft instead of Gard. Notice Howard didn't apologize to Gard, but he did specifically apologize to Krabbenhoft.

If you saw the comment coming from Wisconsin, they take no blame at all.

I disagree.

Gard grabbing him and keeping him from moving on down the line was a bit provoking.

I like how Lickliter handled it - being a whiny baby and a poor loser and refusing to shake hands. LOL

I'm not sure teams should be forced to shake hands right after the heat of battle. It's phony.

Only took Ohio St two to fire Woody Hayes, who was like a king in Columbus.

Of course Woody's blowup was a bit more egregious!

I would suspend both coaches for the rest of this year.  And, because throwing a punch takes this to a completely different level, I would take a scholly away for next year.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

Howard suspended last 5 games and fined $40K. Gard fined $10K. Several players suspended a game. Will be re-evaluated before the Big 10 tourney.

Howard issued a long, sincere public apology. He knows he let his emotions take over and f'ed up big time.

He and Gard are both highly-respected around the league.

Big 10 got it right.

How do you know it was a sincere apology? How is sincerity judged? By words or by actions? Was he sincere the last time also?

The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.

Just got my tickets for Saturday and Sunday at the Arch Madness!  For those who don't know, there is a deal TODAY ONLY for $22 tickets all weekend.  Granted after fees it is around $35, but still much cheaper than normal.

No idea. For all I know, could have been written by the Sports Info person! LOL

The fact that he didn't directly mention Gard in his apology gave it a ring of truth, because I'm pretty sure he and Greg are no longer best buds. 🙂

Hacksaw gives SIU a 100% of finishing 6th.  A 66% chance for Missouri State to finish 3rd, 24% chance for Drake, 6% Northern Iowa, 4% Loyola.
