Hey, I'll play.........................
#8 Illinois State over #9 Indiana State
#7 Valparaiso over #10 Evansville
#1 Northern Iowa over #8 Illinois State
#4 Loyola Chicago over #5 Bradley
#2 Missouri State over #7 Valparaiso
#3 Drake over #6 SIU (man I hope I'm wrong)
#4 Loyola Chicago over #1 Northern Iowa
#3 Drake over #2 Missouri State
#4 Loyola Chicago over #3 Drake
Tournament MVP: Lucas Williamson
My one caveat is that IF SIU does beat Drake, which is entirely possible, they will go on to beat either Missouri State or Valpo, who I think could give Missouri State a run for their $$
the bobber ain't putting down sturtz. but you aren't going to convince me he is one of the top 10 players in the league. 2nd team? reink mast outscored him, and led the league in rebounds by a wide margin. and he ain't on no second team.
besides, who cares what the bobber thinks.
Every time Drake comes on I’m like “Sturtz is terrible”. Then the game happens and he just goes out there and does his job and basically out works everybody. He’s not flashy but has “it” whatever that is. Glad he made the 2nd team….I don’t think he gets picked in front of any of the all conference team in a pick up game, but I’d take him when the real game happens. He’s 6-3 180 and out rebounding most players and seems to always be guarding someone bigger than him. Sign me up

Yes, yes...........................and................Yes !
the bobber didn't mean to cause so much consternation over sturtz. but he stands by his position that sturtz is not a top 10 player in this league, there is no way he should be on a team ahead of reink mast who led the league in rebounding, and i sure ain't trading lance for him. stubborn bobber.
somebody should tell devries sturtz is so good. maybe he would start him in more than half their games.
Why start the guy? If his best role for the team is off the bench. Is he on the floor at the end of games? That should tell you his standing on the team. Hats off to him for being a college athlete and checking his feelings at the door and taking on whatever role his team asks of him. Wish a lot of other high school and college athletes would do this. Glad he made the all conference team, because that type of player gets overlooked. I respect your opinion….if he got left off there would be people clamoring the other direction.
No surprise, Ben Jacobson wins MVC Coach of the Year:

All I know about Sturtz is if the game is close in the last 5 minutes Friday night Sturtz’s presence on the floor will add to Saluki fans’ anxiety.
This is what I have:
#8 Illinois State over #9 Indiana State
#7 Valparaiso over #10 Evansville
#1 Northern Iowa over #8 Illinois State
#4 Loyola Chicago over #5 Bradley
#2 Missouri State over #7 Valparaiso
#6 SIU over #3 Drake
#4 Loyola Chicago over #1 Northern Iowa
#2 Missouri State over #6 SIU
#2 Missouri State over #4 Loyola Chicago
Tournament MVP: Isiah Mosley
If SIU can't pull off the upset against the Bears, then this is the year the superior Missouri State talent puts it all together and wins the Arch. This is also the best shot for the MVC to maximize potential post-season bids.

I also think this could/should be the Bears’ year, and could see that final matchup coming to fruition.
My total Homer Picks for the MVC tournament:
#9 Indiana State over #8 Illinois State
#7 Valparaiso over #10 Evansville
#1 Northern Iowa over #9 Indiana State
#5 Bradley over #4 Loyola
#7 Valpo over #2 MSU
#6 SIU over #3 Drake
#1 UNI over #5 Bradley
#6 SIU over #7 Valpo
#6 SIU over #1 UNI
SIU goes dancing! "Dawgs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!"
No surprise, Ben Jacobson wins MVC Coach of the Year:
When SIU hired Mullins, I remember thinking the marriage between SIU and BMull could be the same as Jacobson and UNI long term. Overall great culture, more times successful than not, a few magical seasons, several good seasons, some meh seasons but overall great body of work. Got to respect the way Jacobson has kept UNI relevant all these years even in some of the lesser seasons, he always has them competitive and in the picture.
Does anyone know if it's total Jake worship up there? Or has he worn out his welcome with a portion of their fan base for not ever making a super deep NCAA run or having them in the dance every single year?

Pretty sure people were questioning him on Panther Nation at the beginning of the year. He's had his high points and low points. If we got half of what they've gotten out of him out of Mullins though, I'd take it
Here's my uneducated guess
#9 Indiana State over #8 Illinois State
#7 Valparaiso over #10 Evansville

#2 Missouri State over #7 Valparaiso
#6 SIU over #3 Drake

Illinois State going to beat Indiana State in the 8-9 game. Typical ugly Thursday game.
The only game I am interested in is the last one of the day. Go Dogs!
