Unless Murray completely screws up their coaching hire, they'll adjust fine to the Missouri Valley. Might have a bit of an adjustment year at first with their coach and top talent leaving but it's not hard to reload via the transfer portal and they already recruit to an upper MVC level.

I know he didn't leave because of the MVC. I'm just saying that it is smart to cash in before the MVC. Also, I'm not convinced everything will be "just fine." Yea, I think there is a good chance that they get a good coach and compete with MVC teams. However, for the first time, they actually NEED a good coach to be good. They truly have to get this position right this time, whereas the last couple of coaches were more of plug-and-play options. For the first time ever, Murray has the chance to become irrelevant if they get something wrong, where that's never been the case before.

Racer fans were actually meh on Prohm and really wanted James Kane, who was a former assistant and is now at Dayton
Given that he was canned by Iowa State a year ago, I would postulate that his services as a college basketball coach were not highly sought.

UNI is picking up some good games for 2022-23. They’ll play at Richmond and Virginia in a weeks span. In my opinion, their scheduling was a huge reason they had success this past year. I think stronger scheduling might hurt you in the short-term with a few losses but better prepares you for the Valley.
