Hinson will certainly be back next year, he’ll whine and moan that the schedule was just too hard and it set the team up for failure so it isn’t his fault since he was forced to do this schedule.
The only way he is back is with a Valley title. He was pretty easy to read last night. He looks defeated and knows the end is here
Craving a McBride Special!
Anyone know what Kevin Dorsey is doing (besides desperately holding the SIU system and Carbondale campus together?) It would be interesting to see what his view on this is.
They know an extension will not go over well with the fan base. They figure the longer it takes for them to find out the longer it is before they have to deal with it. This administration has proven that only one donors opinion matters anyway

Success was meaningless to the people who mattered the last however damn many years it has been why do you think the big donor would care about it this year or that SIU would be willing to overrule him this time?

And to compound the sad matters - we now have an interim SIU System President searching for a long-term interim Chancellor to run the joint. I'm afraid the Huckster will still be with us when we get demoted to D2 status (given the direction this university is trending). Just think how much fun it will be when USI coached by Salukis' fan favorite Watson comes to town and wipes the floor with BBQ sauce.
Go Dawgs!
The extension is simple. You give it to him so he can still assure recruits hes coming back... Just in case he wins the valley title and returns he needs an incoming class. If he fails, hes gone anyway IMO even with the extension. You cant let him be a lame duck coach in recruiting though just in case he pulls off a valley title and NCAAT appearance.

Don't see how it helps recruiting if it's not public. I guess he tells the recruit about it but says "Don't tell anyone, it's a secret".

I'm not sure how one year makes a difference anyway. The kids and their AAU coaches are not stupid. They all know which coaches are on the ropes. One-year left on the contract is the same as no-years left on the contract and everyone knows it.
Just a quick comment about "The Southern". JAL is ranked 8th in nation and 9 and 1, would think that they would deserve a line or 2 from Heff.
I have already sent a heartfelt email to Jerry Kill. No anger, just expressing that if this continues next year I am done. I am so disappointed I let myself get suckered in this year.
Sounds like our roster of battle-tested upperclassmen was spooked to play its home game against big, bad Murray State tonight because of Hinson's pregame rhetoric.
Oh, wait ... that's just a nauseatingly silly narrative from a huckster coach desperate to distract from his program's utter lack of accomplishments during his seven years on the bench after an indefensible shellacking from a regional rival? Carry on ...
