This year's transfer class looks more and more like the disaster I thought it was.

Miller: 2 points in 8 minutes

Hensley: 2 points in 6 minutes

Stulic: DNP

McGee: DNP

Not acceptable when you had to replace two Big Ten starters

That's what I thought too and nothing has changed my mind, although I think Hensley may turn out to be OK.

Rupert and XJ are our two good gets from the portal. Portal success this coming year is imperative, but I'm not holding my breath.

At this point so far this year's team is a statistically better team by NET than last year's team (with 2 big ten starters).

Hate to see Mullins in this situation. I loved the guy as a player and like  most of Saluki Nation, I was giddy with expectations of return to the glory years of old, but sadly things have not gone as expected. Maybe some kind of miracle wake-up call will prove the naysayers wrong, but realistically that will not happen. This team and coaching staff seems like they will never get over the hill. If SIU lets Mullins go, I predict he will end up somewhere and do much better, but he is definitely not producing at SIU like we all thought he would.

Xavier Johnson has been carrying this team all year and they're much more efficient against the bad teams.  I like that this team is stepping on the necks of the teams they should beat but the truth is, they have 0 top 100 KenPom wins out of 4 tries.

Their best wins are #115 Oklahoma State and #138 Belmont at home.  After that their next best win is #192 Saint Louis at home.

This is ... not good. Believe it's Stulic's first DNP of the season. He looked pretty good the first couple weeks of the season but totally has lost his mojo, and with diminished or no minutes, it's very tough to get it back. I still would like to see him play about 10-12 of Brown's 35-40 minutes a night and then maybe Brown is a little more impactful late in games than he has been.

As for the other guys, McGee was clearly a bust, Miller has improved some but still is not who most of us thought he'd be, and it's hard to play Hensley substantial minutes with Rupert and Ebube manning the 5 unless they commit to bigger lineups with Hensley at the 4 for longer stretches ... they did that a bit last night and it looked pretty good to me.

Wait... Would you consider AJ a net positive from the portal? The answer is yes.  Some of you last year I am sure were saying what a waste though cause he didn't play... So, if that is the case how can we already say Hensley and Miller weren't?

I know Hensley is in a unique situation where he went from not thinking he'll play this year to being thrown into the fire in the middle of the season but he just doesn't look like a great player to me.  His defense is extremely poor and his post moves are non-existent.  There's a reason his minutes are being cut by the game.  He's a 4th year Senior that came from a good Cincinnati program, he should be way more polished than he is.  Maybe with an offseason with the team he improves but this team needed more of a quick-fix in the portal to replace Domask & Jones and they didn't come close to getting one.

@salukiworld Well, they developed one in house.  I don't think it matters how it happens.  AJ also huge development, Scottie huge development.  More than one way to skin a cat.

Well, such a hard game to watch and bare the result. With that said, will continue to monitor, but no longer investing my time and energy in this years team. Hope for the miracle in STL, but I think it’s highly unlikely that Bryan can make that happen if he can’t pull out a save last night.

It has been a few hours since the game ended, and I have had time to digest. Certainly, the tale of two halves. Played exceptional basketball 1st half and played not to lose half two. Had a strange feeling that we were going to blow it, and that indeed happened. Many items to point out, that others here have already mentioned. Quite simply, we flat out choked last night, and that's the nicest way I can phrase it. It would have been a big win for the team, program and Mullins. As some folks have mentioned, UNI is going to be very difficult, and most likely third loss in as many games. Much like football, SIU basketball has never played well there, or has had much success. I most certainly hope they prove me wrong.

How’s everybody feeling today after the most epic (tied for) collapse in Saluki Basketball history?

Ha. I’ve always felt like the day after a terrible loss is as bad or worse than the day of. Especially the next morning. Like waking up to a hangover. And this was a doozy.

@rockin-dawg

No less pissed off than i was last night.

I'm still sitting here ENRAGED at the obvious coaching choice to "go slow" instead of what worked in the first half.

But last night my little dog, Thibault, came up to me, obviously aware that I was about to go out of my mind with anger. And suddenly it was fine.

He's really old. I realized there are more important things in the world.

And yet: it was STILL freaking awful and embarrassing.

(Inflammatory political snark)

Pissed and embarrassed.

But lost in all that happened yesterday, I think AJ Ferguson could be a really good player next season in the Valley.  I'm sure he'll have to do everything himself though as is tradition the last 5 years.

Not to change the subject but Memphis ranked number 10 in the country just coughed up a 20 point 2nd half lead and lost at home to South Florida unfortunately thinks happen
