Bradley shot 70% and 71% from three 2nd half. Our defense was just poor.
We shot 35% and 14% from three.
Fact is, there are a lot of teams in this league with better talent. Our 12 wins are largely because XJ has often played like the best player in the country.
I'm just concerned that this really wrecks our confidence - I expect it does.
Mullins really needs to improve recruiting.
Next week at UNI - good luck with that one. They're currently winning at Belmont.
@oberkfell The ENTIRE ARENA knew what the last play was going to be, since Mullins is incapable of actually coming up with anything BUT that.
As well as X has been with dishing the ball this season, someone would likely be wide open should he try to drive and dish, but you think Mullins could draw that up?
Nope.
Mullins really needs to improve recruiting.
I'll say it, Mullins should be gone. There's not enough to give him 1 or 2 more years like they did with Hinson. They don't even have a 2024 recruit and they're going to lose the 2nd leading scorer in the country. This team is just gonna be bad again next year.
I’d rather have a close 1st half and lose at the end than being up big and watching that inevitable slow death.
Some really difficult questions need to be posed to this coaching staff. There’s to much talent on SIU’s roster to play like that in the 2nd half. And the last play being drawn up for Johnson with no other options should he get stuck was terrible. Ebube got good minutes in the 1st but hardly played in the second half……..

I think we'll be fortunate to win half our games rest of the year. Lot of road games coming up.
Without some really talented portal recruits, this team will be worse next year.
I guess stalling the second half was a bad plan. I usually disagree with putting the blame on coachs, but that second half was worse than terrible. Even I could see the writing on the wall 6 minutes into the second half. There was no apparent attempt right things.
The winding down the clock and playing not to lose is bad enough but you can't give up 46 points in a half (and 70 points overall) at home when you build your entire program on defense.
@enuf I saw the writing on the wall when they were up 20. That said basketball is a game of runs. It evened out tonight. Bradley is barely the better team but they are. If siu puts it all together come march they will have a slim chance. Either way. I’m just not surprised by this result tonight. Neither is Vegas
Scoreless from 7:22 to 2:04 we didn't call a single timeout.
Saluki Insider? I barely know her!

@salukiworld yep, that 23-point Missouri State comeback against the Dawgs back in 2005 was the one I referenced earlier in this thread. I was there in person to watch that collapse, as we were SCREAMING for Lowery to draw up a play instead of letting Tatum dribble out the clock on nearly every second half possession.

I have a lot of issues with how the game ended up today, but putting the ball in your best players hand at the end of the game isn’t one of them. He got a really good look and missed. It’s a make or miss game. As far as him dishing the ball tonight…he had 5 turnovers, most on drive and kicks so decision making wasn’t great for him tonight.
