The fact that Sykes has played hardly at all when the team is playing such a godawful game tells you he’s deep in the doghouse.

Nagy overheard him say why wasn’t there a timeout called?  Nagy didn’t know he was talking about the Bears.

I hear Eberflus has applied for a consultant job!

Nagy can't wait to get home and have a martini or three!

Really a solid game tonight. Great D and the offense was fluent.

At least the dawgs won the rebounding battle.  That might be the only positive to pull from this absolute embarrassment of a game.

So far this team has shown it can’t handle the ball, stop the other team or shoot. I hope they at least show improvement on the first two at some point.

14 - 22 from three - 64%

We killed them on the boards!

What a lackluster effort. We get behind and just put it in neutral!  Losing Elliot was a disaster - nobody to pick up his energy or scoring.

Hope we can win a few MVC games.

Nagy: biggest frustration is defense. We are a mess right now - can't hardly dribble.

Yep!  What disturbs me the most is the effort. Not great!

I think Nagy might not understand that this isn’t SDSU or Wright State. I’m not sure the patience is gonna be the same.

Nobody expected this team to win, but we do expect them to compete and play with heart.

God, for all the garbage Barry was, at least his players showed effort.

They better get the effort piece fixed ASAP. Year 1 often isn’t pretty but at least teams typically play hard for a new coach.

Kennard gives effort. Most of the other guys are not showing the needed fight to compensate for talent deficiencies.

I think this year would have been bad no matter what they did at coach but expected better.  This team looks like a bottom 3 team in the Valley.  Sucks to lose Elliott but other teams lose good players and it’s next man up.

As painful as it is to say so because I really thought everything would fit together better, this team looks exactly like what it is -- one that lost 90% of its roster to the transfer portal and had to be thrown together willy-nilly out of desperation. I don't think it was a matter of recruiting warm bodies because most of the portal transfers SIU brought in were solid contributors to their former teams and we were happy when they signed. This roster is not without talent, but the pieces just don't fit together and glaring weaknesses were not addressed, making for a dysfunctional morass up to this point. I still hold out hope for improvement, but if that doesn't happen, we're probably looking at another offseason "rinse-repeat" cycle.

God, for all the garbage Barry was, at least his players showed effort.

But he had guys like Desmar Jackson, Anthony Beane, Pippen.

This team doesn't have talent like that. Let's not forget this is year one with a group quickly assembled and the best player is already out for the season.

I expected a lot of losses. What I don't like is the lack of effort, energy, and sense of urgency.
