No, YOU are terrible at this.
I will change my mind if we get an NCAA bid. You're satisfied with being OK; I am not.
Are we clear here?

I think the complaint most of us have is that we still often have the mindset of watching the lead guard dribble around for 21 seconds, then start the offense with 9 seconds left and try to make something happen. This has led to so many forced bad shots and even shot clock violations (which is so frustrating). There HAS been some improvement over last year (especially in transition). I just don't think the offensive improvement has been overwhelming.
It's insane the number of times Domask, X, and Jones have bailed SIU out of this the last few years. I don't think we have that guy going into next year right now.
you don’t refer to this as being bailed out, that’s just stars being stars.
also, style of play is a choice, playing a high tempo does not equate to winning or losing, it’s about efficiency in whatever you do… SIU is very efficient, there isn’t much to be upset about with that.

If you are so narrow minded that it’s tournament or bust in a world where you have to win in STL then idk what to say, you’ll never be happy with anything unless the league changes.

As I suspected, you're fine with being an also-ran. 'Nuff said.
I'm off to binge Masters of the Air. Not going to waste my time on a wad-waste anymore. 😄

You haven’t brought one intelligent point. It’s comical. Just “MAKE THE TOURNAMENT OR YOU SUCK” lol

You are fine with Barry Hinson-level success. I am not.
I hope Mullins will do better. Last night was a step forward, I hope.
Your idiocy would be comical if it weren't so . . . well . . . idiotic.
Remember to switch out your drool bucket! 😜

I guess some of our fans are fine with not making any post-season for 15 straight years (or whatever it's been). Maybe he's young and doesn't remember the Sweet 16s or when SIU was mentioned in the same breath as Gonzaga. Maybe he's related to Mullins? Or maybe he's just a troll. 🤣
@rockin-dawg I think you're onto something rockin. I'm not ready to give up on Mullins but this guy appears to be some young kid or a troll.

To be fair nobody thought we had “that guy” going into this year. Will we have someone step up like X did this year? Maybe, or will we have a group effort step up? I am not as down on our roster as most on here are. Will we get a portal PG? If so we’ll be just fine if we get Cade healthy and nobody worth while transfers out.

This is a point that I’ve tried making a few times. We don’t know who our main guy is next year… but we certainly didn’t have a clue who it was going to be this year. Everyone on this board just knew we were going to suck before our first guy. Since then, that guy has developed.
I definitely feel more comfortable going into next year than I did this year. Marcus and Lance were EVERYTHING for 4 years, and we came out just as good or better after them. Something will develop.

Yup. I get the impression he's both young and has some sort of ties to either a player, member of the coaching staff or someone in the athletic dept -- too close to the situation to judge it objectively.
Just stating that we're living in a perpetual world where its MVCt championship or bust is telling. You could've said the same about the Valley in the 90's, yet by some force of mystery, SIU burst onto the national stage just a few years later. Could've said it again after Creighton and Wichita left; enter Loyola. A 'watered down' MVC didn't hold them back.
As a passionate, life-long Saluki fan, I expect excellence, especially since SIU has been there before. I'm sure Bryan Mullins shares the same expectations. Expecting less is a firm step towards failure.
--Insert something witty here--
I'm also tired of the "it's Saint Louis or bust" argument. Is this the MVC of the golden years, NO but it's also better this year and we HAD two teams ready for the tournament prior to IND Sts recent demise. Look at the MWC, they were no better than the MVC but now they're getting multiple bids annually, including this year where they may get 5+ teams. The MVC can get there again, and I believe they will.
Regardless, you have to recruit, develop players, coach, etc in order to put yourself in a position to at least be in the conversation of the NCAA or NIT tournament.
With the new net rankings teams will have to schedule better and the conference will have to rebuild its reputation to get multiple bids especially with the power 5 conference realignment and if you get multiple teams in you have to win and get to the 2nd weekend and as far as MWC it helps that SDSU made it to the championship game you can't buy that type of publicity and hype so yes until these multiple intangibles and some I haven't mentioned it is STL or bust
I think if he does too well and the team makes a crazy run he will be gone, somewhere better perhaps. If it is the usual 1 and done, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone agreed to part ways. My source about to retire from the university told me folks were done paying for the job and he wouldn't be back. Southern Illinois folks like to gossip so it could be taken with a grain of salt I suppose. This win does not erase the consistent shortcomings but it does prove they can play with the top tier of the conference. Enright and Kent playing in those games likely change things but whatever.
...My source about to retire from the university told me folks were done paying for the job...
I'm not really sure what you mean by this. Folks = donors? The job doesn't just go away and a new hire certainly won't be that much cheaper if they are going to try the route of an established coach/Power 6 asst. If we want to remain competitive the salary needs to stay pretty close to where it is regardless of who the coach is next year.
