@saluki-4-life 3 out of 4 Mullins portal recruits couldn't even get time on a mediocre team this year 😂
SIU could have done a lot worse. People in coaching I trust think very highly of Nagy. I will trust them. If the Salukis can get the NIL built up, I think he can win here.
@saluki-4-life this years team would have been swept both years by wright state
I don’t know if this will work but I’m excited to see if it can.
Last season Wright State was 22nd in the country in adjusted tempo, 25th in average possession length (15.9 seconds), 34th in adjusted offensive efficiency, and 2nd in effective field goal percentage. This is a truly a new era of Saluki basketball.
The problem? They were 348th in adjusted offensive efficiency. This was a huge outlier on Nagy’s resume though.
@saluki-4-life this years team would have been swept both years by wright state
you also said John A would beat our team last year with Marcus and Lance. So not sure I trust your analysis here.
@dirtydale I stand by that. Our teams weren’t coached well
You have got to be effing kidding me
Now here are some questions to be answered by the administration?
1 Is this a safe hire(57) years old. Will not be looking at moving on up?
2 Where the other candidates that were interviewed not going to provide stability because if successful moving on in 3-4 years?
3 What makes this hire better than the other individuals interviewed?
4 How did he get to the top of your hire list as opposed to the other candidates?5 Are we thought of as being the destination job outside our home area now as we were once before
How many times are you going to post that image?
SIU plane is about to land in Dayton. Any Dayton connections been listed?
KDAY is a good ways north of the UD campus & a bit further yet from the Wright State campus. If the intent is to pick-up a UD assistant for a site visit & interviews it would make more sense to fly into KMGY which is south of Dayton and closer to the UD campus. I'll bet a lot of the coaches in all sports live in the Dayton suburbs near UD and thus south-ish of Dayton & the campus; same for the WSU coaches.
Go Dawgs!
Scott Nagy. 6 years $600,000 base salary
He's making $500k at Wright State. Kind of surprised he'd make the jump for an 18% raise.
We just hired a dude with a 18-15 and 18-14 mark the last 2 years!?!?!? Holy cow. What an absolute disgrace.
Mullins won 19 after 5 years of no postseason tournaments and you’re losing your mind over him being fired.
Horizon league guys....
Horizon league was a little better than you think this year. I watched a decent amount
The Horizon produced a team that upset Kentucky and came within an overtime period of reaching the Sweet 16. It couldn't have been that awful.
Since we often compared Mullins to what he did against DeVries, Schertz, Wardle and Jacobson, I'll have to check out how Nagy did against Oakland's Greg Kampe, as well as the successful Horizon guy we may have almost hired (Calhoun).
That’s the best we could get for $600K per year?! Do we know who actually turned down offers besides Spradlin? We know several who was interviewed but who actually turned down offers or pulled out?
@kiwiball idk about all that but the guy has a successful record and he has a 6’10 Illinois wolves kid from normal. Obviously the last connections to the wolves wasn’t that strong if wright state could out recruit them.
Not dissing the hire. Supposedly we had 3 or 4 names that were either handshake signed or mention as our top priority. Just how did we go from the 3-4 handshake candidates to Scott Nagy. Then his age? Is this hire something the administration things is safe because of him not moving on if successful as the other candidates might do. Just would like the opportunity to see what their thinking is to fill the position of HC
We will not know until at least the end of the 2nd year if we had a good hire.
