did Mullins and sons really have an in with the Illinois wolves?
Bryan’s dad runs the Illinois Wolves program. I don’t know about the in. But there was a connection between Bryan and the Wolves
It’ll be interesting to see if we get any players back who entered the portal.
@kiwiball Not much of an in. Did even one player from the Wolves end up at SIU?
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
@siudawgs Thanks. Two more than I thought.

The Saluki Jet is still on the ground at MDH, no flight plans filed yet for it.
Go Dawgs!
Great day for SIU.
For those who have spent the last two weeks trashing the university, do us all a favor: stay home.
Nobody wants your negativity at sporting events. Nobody wants you dragging sh*t down.
The people who lost today love mediocrity. It’s a sad day for losers.

Part in bold is huge. I am still shocked that so many support keeping BM because he’s a nice man when he clearly was not a good Head Coach, in multiple ways.
I care way more about the university and the basketball program than one guy.
Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.
They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

I believe Ebube played on the team and probably Troy. Played for the wolves. Off the top of my head I cannot think of anybody else. Not like they didn’t try to recruit some of the wolves players
Everyone has their opinion on his coaching style. Yes not the best but certainly not the worst. Was he in over his head. That will get you various answers. Did he have a lot to learn? Yes he did. But doesn’t any young new HC. Was he stubborn to a fault. Again you will have various opinions. Most young HC coaches pick up their philosophy of coaching from the coach they played for or worked under. C-Lo, and Porter. Now think back when C-Lo was the HC. Offensively Challenge? Out of bounds plays? Ran the commotion offence. But we were a great D team. Floorburn U. C-Lo did have some assistant coaches that help save him during his tenure here. But once certain coaches left for their own HC JOB. it kinda fell apart both on the court and off the court. Now look at Porter. Illinois state. Young coach. But a failure as a HC. Now a few years as an assistant coach under Majerus. Loyola hires him and bingo. A much different coach.Great day for SIU

I will say that Bryan did a fine job keeping the kids on the straight and narrow, recruited good academic students. Maintain a high GPA. Kept his athletes off the police blotter.
Had the kids involved and invested in the community. He was invested also and it seem to me he liked it down here.
Now before I get lambasted. Did he need to change his mantra in coaching. Probably. Did he need to adjust his game plan, probably. But that is the whole learning process. Will he make a good HC some day again, probably. Porter changed. So only time will tell! I think as we move on to our next HC. Maybe think that Mullins did some good things with the program and that what we see as his negatives hopefully he can correct those mistakes and improve them.
IMHO he will be a better HC in his next go around. Whenever that may be.
Great day for SIU.
