Here is am under the radar candidate I stumbled across South Dakota St coach Eric Henderson checks all the boxes and learned under McDermott at Creighton and took over for TJ Otzelberger
I'd be fine with this. He hasn't really shown he can build a program though, more maintain it. You can do much worse than Henderson though.
Maintaining can sometimes be difficult likes to win Summit League tourneyHere is am under the radar candidate I stumbled across South Dakota St coach Eric Henderson checks all the boxes and learned under McDermott at Creighton and took over for TJ Otzelberger

So a guy in the SIU Athletics Facebook group just posted that SIU has narrowed their search down to three guys, and none have previous ties to SIU. I have no idea if the guy actually has any inside knowledge, or if he is just making shit up. But hey, he posted it haha.
Based off of the previous posts the guy has made, i'd say he has no clue at all. But whatever.
With all of the turmoil surrounding the program these days one can't but wonder if the phrase be careful what you wish for would be appropriate at this time even when Hinson was let go and Bryan was hired I don't believe it was this bad
It was pretty bad. There was also no NIL or transfer portal back then either. At least not unlimited transfers like there are now. With all of the turmoil surrounding the program these days one can't but wonder if the phrase be careful what you wish for would be appropriate at this time even when Hinson was let go and Bryan was hired I don't believe it was this bad

I doubt the guy that posted that knows.
My out-of left field prediction is that it will be Rick Croy from Cal Baptist. Successful at D2 level, been competitive with CBU since they started moving up. Been a head coach at CBU for 11 seasons and also coached at a JUCO as a head coach. Recruiting connections in California. Is not particularly young but not particularly old being in his mid 40s. Played at a D2 state school so is familiar with the intricacies of being at an institution that is not the premier in the state it is in.

Most people on there don’t have a clue what’s going on lol
During last night's selection show, the studio crew had high praise for Samford's Bucky McMillan, and I thought, "Wow, here's someone we really ought to be looking at." Having lived and worked in Birmingham many years ago, I know how hard it is to win at Samford because of the budget, facilities and academics. But he signed a seven-year contract after last season that runs through 2030. He's also a lifelong Birmingham guy who was a high school coach in the area before landing the Samford job (for what it's worth, the local reaction at the time to hiring a high school coach for a Division I job was not exactly positive, even though he had attained Herrin-like status in the area). It'll probably take an SEC job -- he's part of the speculation at Vanderbilt -- to pry him away.

I believe Chris Mack may be headed to Vandy. Of course, it could just be a rumor. 🙂
You would have to imagine we would know by next week? Our candidates that are head coaching are likely to get knocked out in the first round of the tourney.
@tj-mcflys I agree that Chris Mack is heading for Vandy. I think his daughter has signed to play volleyball there also.
My wife just read that Huggins was sighted at the SIU airport. She didn't know who he was but I had heard a rumor while at the MVC tournament that they were going after him. I dismissed it as hopeful thinking as his last salary was 4.2m. But was told he wants to retire on a high note and it wasn't about the money as he's already made enough.

There is 0 chance SIU is hiring a 70 year old drunk, right?
I think if Huggins is actually in Carbondale, it might be about Jerrod Calhoun (Youngstown State Head Coach)
