@sandman95 more like dean siu from mvc fans lol
I have finally come around to the idea that he is insane; he really believes what he is saying.
(Inflammatory political snark)
@mr_woogers I'll take this one!! lol. And I used to agree with you. Until 2022. The men's and women's teams both struggle for the best times. One team's games interfere with the other team's practice. Most times there are only two baskets set up. At most there are 4. There should be 6. The courtside tables are always out to save setup $. It is not the closed environment that coaches prefer. Almost all of SIU's competitors have them now and it is used against them in recruiting. But, the biggest reason is players can't get into a gym to work on their shooting, etc. when it is best for them. We love to hear stories of Xavier Johnson and Jamaal Tatum in gym at 9:00am. or midnight. Great work ethic! But they are in at THOSE times because those are the only times available. They'd like to shoot after an afternoon practice. Or early evening. Marcus Domask told me that was a huge thing for him. Be clear though: NIL is the clear thing SIU is lacking. But the practice facility is a real issue. And not getting cheaper.
Spradlin passes the press conference test. Sign me up.
Spradlin's press conference from today: he discusses Morehead's style of play, navigating the portal, and obviously the challenge against UIUC tomorrow. No questions about his future.
The good news: he comes across as sharp, confident and likable. The bad news: he either has a bit of a cold or a drug problem ... lots of sniffing. 😆
I wish I wouldn't have watched this as I will now be disappointed if he is not the guy. He is so incredibly well spoken. Another thing to remember, something I pointed out previously, they lost the preseason conference player of the year before the season began and still won 26 games. They also played 8 games without another starter. I don't care what conference you play in, that is impressive. He scheduled 4 power 5 teams (Alabama, Purdue, Penn St and Indiana-who they almost beat). He did, however, schedule 3 Div II games (sorry Spike).
I firmly believe that if HE is the head coach, the Salukis will be in good hands.
They actually didn't schedule any D2 games.
They scheduled FOUR games against NAIA teams which is much much worse.
One of them that they played, Alice Lloyd college, whom they play almost every year, is Coach Spradlin's alma mater. I think its kinda cool of him to schedule them every year since its where he played. They actually didn't schedule any D2 games.

Not saying Spradlin wouldn’t still play some non-D1s at Southern (as other Saluki coaches have), but OVC programs don’t have the same resources to buy many D1 home games, so that’s likely part of the issue there.

If he is SIUs next coach and wants to schedule them in an exhibition that is fine.
If he tries to schedule them in the regular season he should be fired on the spot.
Write it into his contract that he isn't allowed to schedule them as regular season games.

I’m sure it’ll happen. Keep beating that old horse.

SEMO played 4 non D1 schools as well. They can’t get any decent home games so every noncon game would be on the road unless they did this.
On the MVCFans board, So ILL 24 said the first call SIU and Jerrance Howard made was to Bruce Weber and he declined. Makes me wonder if Howard is staying on staff. Would make a lot of sense for a guy like Spradlin if he gets the job to have at least one guy on staff that can recruit Illinois. Spradlin has recruited the hell out of the South but you still need some kind of Illinois presence.
Jesus Christ really ?
have a brain and STP believing everything people post on anything .
ask yourself do you honestly thing Bruce was offered the job ?
do you even for Hal a second think we would not have known this ?
this is really giving me a headache. There is a whole whole bunch of misdirection being thrown at you. Watch the movie swordfish. Get back to me
