Jesus Christ really ?

have a brain and Stop believing everything people post on anything .

ask yourself  do you honestly think Bruce was offered the job ?

do you even for Half a second think we would not have known this ?

this is really giving me a headache. There is a whole whole bunch of misdirection being thrown at you.   Watch the movie swordfish. Get back to me

You don't think they reached out to Bruce in some form?  I know Tim/Lane weren't here but they rolled out the red carpet for him after Lowery was fired.  It would honestly be a disservice to not at least gauge his interest even with him being 67

Not me over here wondering why you're getting blasted for thinking that SIU, in the least, reached out to Weber to seek his opinion or any other input he may have had to offer....by the guy that legitimately believed a Division 1 basketball program - let alone a Missouri Valley Division 1 basketball program - was going to hire Tyler ***** Smithpeters lol

As much as I dislike Illinois, I suppose I hope Morehead loses today, so that if there is in fact some fire to this smoke, we hear about it sooner than later.

Trying not to get my hopes, though. It’s probably more likely we end up with someone no one here has even mentioned.

Spradlin's press conference from today: he discusses Morehead's style of play, navigating the portal, and obviously the challenge against UIUC tomorrow. No questions about his future.

The good news: he comes across as sharp, confident and likable. The bad news: he either has a bit of a cold or a drug problem ... lots of sniffing. 😆

I wish I wouldn't have watched this as I will now be disappointed if he is not the guy.  He is so incredibly well spoken.  Another thing to remember, something I pointed out previously, they lost the preseason conference player of the year before the season began and still won 26 games.  They also played 8 games without another starter.  I don't care what conference you play in, that is impressive.  He scheduled 4 power 5 teams (Alabama, Purdue, Penn St and Indiana-who they almost beat).  He did, however, schedule 3 Div II games (sorry Spike).

I firmly believe that if HE is the head coach, the Salukis will be in good hands.

Well he said they play deliberate and his teams are accused of playing slow... I thought everyone here hated that...

Did I miss something on Howard? Is he staying on staff or did they keep him as a caretaker?

Really, none of us should be convinced Howard is even worth being kept on. But if he is, it needs to be because the new coach actually wants him on the staff, not because of some push from the administration.

there’s a big difference between a big athletic talent team who is coached to play slower and control the ball and just having a coach who doesn’t really write up plays and just hands the ball to the pg to hold it to the last second. Mullins was great at coaching defense but our offense didn’t really have plays other than Xavier shoot it at the end of the shot clock

Not to beat a dead horse but these problems that are mentioned about the Saluki offense are the same problems that plaque college basketball it is just magnified because of our passion for Saluki basketball also you can diagram all the plays you want and for whatever the reason for failure of that play sometimes the problem could be with the players just watching the first 4 who is to blame for some of the atrocious play the coach or the players

I have news for everyone, there are no secret amazing offenses.... Get dudes that can put the ball in the basket. It's that simple.

Everything points to Spradlin -- which means I'm officially nervous about the situation (as my mom always said, "Don't get your hopes up"). Might seem as if it's a done deal at the moment, but as we all know a lot can happen over the next few days. I'm just hoping there's a plan B (maybe Henderson of SDSU) and that it doesn't involve circling back to Johnson or Smithpeters.

@saluki-4-life

"Everyone" "Always" & "Never"................ ill advised words

While the consensus seems to be that fans want an exciting offense, I've stated numerous times that I could care less if we're offensively or defensively centric, I only care about WINNING.

Having read some of the previous posts, I have some questions that maybe someone can answer. Have all the coaches cleaned out their offices and are gone from Lingle? If so, who is monitoring the academics of the players? Is anyone working with the players who have not left on skill development? Is anyone on the staff helping those in the portal with questions they have?

On another subject, I agree 100% with Mike Reis about the need for a practice facility. As an early 70’s student, I can remember walking through the Arena and the basketball team was practicing on the floor, the men’s and women’s gymnastic teams were practicing on the concourse as well as the wrestling team. In late January, baseball might also be on the concourse. It was really crazy and this was before women’s sports became big. The teams need a dedicated area for practices with player accessibility.

He is also correct in that the NIL is even more important. I guess I could cough up a little more $$$ even though my wife said it has to come out of my golfing money.
