Go sharpen the blades on your mower and relax. My first thought would be, what happened? Allegedly he pulled out? Now he is back in. What does that tell you? IDK. Did his other inquiry fall thru? Or was it a smoke screen all along?
No matter who it is (and I hope it is Spradlin), those who were ready to pony up the buyout for Bryan (kind of irrelevant now depending on his salary at DePaul) better be ready to do the same for NIL.
if not, the ending may not be much different. In the power conferences, NIL can mean a couple megastars and a pretty deep bench. In the Valley, it should at least produce two or three all-league types.
Then they will most likely be poached and you reinvest their dollars. That’s a mid-major’s life, at least for now.
Come on SIU, get Spradlin! Pull this off, Mr. Leonard, you brilliant bastard! Do it! Do it! Do it! Go all the way! Almost there, baby, just a liiiiittle mooore!
I would guess with agent involved, Spandlin is going to command around $700k.
Stop grasping at straws. It will be announced when it is announced.
I suspect what might be just as important to Spradlin, or any coach who saw what happened here, is an extra year on the contract. He’s a smart coach and a smart guy. He knows consistent success may take some time and doesn’t want his career to be short-circuited.

Coaches are often more likely to have that extra year on a contract. As a HC , he knows how long it takes in the age of NIL, portal deals and such. Especially at the Mid major level. I just hope he maintains the roster with people that are good players/citizens that keep out of the police blotter. The one thing that Mullins did was a high gpa with his student athletes and no ARRESTS. Also the new coach should be very involved with the students coming to the games like Coach Mullins did!

I think that and NIL has to be top of mind for him. He’s likely looking at this as the next step up to a big job (I’m fine with that) so he needs to be setup for having success in this league. I think NIL has to be 1a and facilities 1b on anyone’s list when taking this job.
Bet this reminds Bobber of the Martin twins fifty years ago.Come on SIU, get Spradlin! Pull this off, Mr. Leonard, you brilliant bastard! Do it! Do it! Do it! Go all the way! Almost there, baby, just a liiiiittle mooore!
I hope in a few hours I am proven wrong here though. You never know!
You never know? It’s funny seeing that from you, considering for the past 2 weeks we’ve all been told from you - confidently - that this search is a failure and that the new coach is going to be terrible.

Hopefully you all recover from the intense torture I put you through.
