I think it will be interesting to see how the dominos fall after the Big 12 is done. I think in the near term, the Power 5 will be done, but the ripple effect will be pretty big for the rest of the conferences. The MVC can't be stagnate during this, as I think the AAC is going to start looking at conferences like the MWC, MVC, and A-10 to try and poach the top teams from them if they have any hope of convincing their last big team left, Memphis, to stay (even then they still might not stay).
A quick first test for the new MVC commissioner.

AAC is a BCS football conference. Unless somebody moves up the MVC is safe.

They are about to lose their top three football schools, so I don't see them being much of a football conference for very long. I think they could maintain football to some degree with teams like Utah State, UNLV, La Tech, etc. but I think they will need to become a more basketball centric conference if they want to stay relevant long term (that football tv money is going to take a hit).

As long as no MVC team moves, I do think this helps us become a top 10 league pretty easily. We should be anyway considering what the MVC has to offer this year, but at this point, I think we are better than the AAC as of today. If they pull from the MWC/A-10, our conference may be able to pass either one of those.
uhhhhh while I love the Vally and I believe the top is very very strong. Memphis and Houston alone put the AAC better this year.

Fair enough, but one of the two teams you mentioned is one of the teams (probably) leaving. Looking at last year's Ken Pom Rankings (minus the teams that are leaving), here is what you have:
Memphis: 31
SMU: 56
Wichita State: 68
Tulsa: 121
Temple: 143
Tulane: 144
East Carolina: 155
South Florida: 170
I don't know what they'll end up next year, but we have 4 teams with very legitimate top 100 chances. Maybe even 5, if you include SIU. Without those 3 teams in the future, I cannot see how they're easily better than the MVC.
Looks like the AAC is trying to raid the Mountain West (Air Force, San Diego State, Colorado State, and Boise State) and pull UAB from C-USA. They appear to be moves based around football, don't gain a ton with BB considering what they lost, but probably keeps them above MVC that haul. Then the Mountain West would be the next domino to fall.
Edit: I should add, that if the Mountain West does get raided, I could see them going after teams like NDSU and SDSU if they are prepared to make the jump to FBS football. Interesting times could be ahead.

Losing the Dakotas would sting a lot. I could see that being how Murray gets a call
