"Next year I'll be coming back, and I expect to improve a lot this offseason," D'Avanzo said Wednesday.

This is good news.  D'Avanzo seemed to get adjusted to D1 ball by the end of the season.

I believe next year he's going to be able to play at his natural position more often, I'm excited to have him back! He'll be a solid contributor

Bryan is gonna have his work cut out for him keeping everyone happy with minutes.  Not a bad problem to have though.

After seeing what injuries did to the team this year and what they are currently doing to the football team I believe the more depth you have shouldn't be a bad thing and I am sure most coaches would relish how to divide playing time instead of seeing a mash unit and trying to field a team

This can be viewed as good news for multiple reasons:

1. Obvious added depth - which you can never have enough of

2. Always a good thing when a player WANTS to play for a school and/or coach, but especially in this case as I doubt he would come back unless he truly believed that this team could win next season

3. Clearly showed visible improvement at the end of the season

I appreciated his implied acknowledgement of his struggles (at times) this season and that he would put in the work in the offseason to improve.  That is paramount to me.

I really like this. I think by default he will be improved if he doesn't have to spend time playing out of position. The added depth at center (hopefully everyone will be healthy), having a healthy Domask, and potentially picking up an athletic wing/forward to compliment him at the 4 spot could change the game for SIU next season.

It is awesome to see situations like this where a player is committed where he is rather than opting for the trendy transfer game.

Good to hear! Has talent and some size. Although he struggled at times (didn't everybody?), he had some impressive games and we need him!

This is very good news. I was not aware that Long was battling injuries this year, he certainly has the body to succeed. In reading the SI article (btw download the app, it's free) I have one question for Heff: is Foster Wonders chopped liver?

I thought Heff was only discussing Forwards and Wonders is a Shooting Guard.   That was my take but I obviously could be wrong.
