Saw the Dawg pound students try to move down behind the band only to be told to move back up top. Anyone have a reason why they weren't allowed closer to the band? Loyola's students were allowed down closer to their band. Why was that okay for them but not SIU?
Not sure why they didn't put the students behind the basket like they've done in year's past? Guessing COVID related? They used to have you pick up single session tickets at the box office with a student ID to sit right behind the basket
Covid related????

@dawgbytes Loyola students were allowed down low but SIU’s weren’t don’t see how that could be Covid related. But they will probably saw something like that. A lot of SIU fans were commenting about it just would be interested in an explanation.
Seating dust-up aside, it was cool to see the Dawg Pound get some students to Arch Madness. It adds a lot to the vibe. The numbers were pretty modest, but the Salukis are going to have to, you know, win a (non-Thursday) game or two in St. Louis one of these years to get bigger numbers there, both from a student standpoint and overall. And I realize the spring break calendar also continues to pose challenges ...
I do know the City of St. Louis dropped its mask mandate on Saturday night so that might have something to do with the fact that it was an issue on Friday but not on Sunday.
My kid was in the Dawg Pound on Friday night. She told me yesterday that the Drake fans were complaining and telling them to move. I don't know if there was more to it, but she said that they moved to avoid an incident.
That still doesn't explain why they were not ticketed behind the basket like the Loyola and Drake students in the finals, but she said that it was not the arena staff that told them to move.
@saluki-69 Thank you for your input. The SIU athletics department definitely needs to be more proactive next year and get those students behind the band.
