Frustrated, but last night's defense was shades of Floorburn U with guys forcing turnovers and diving for loose balls.  Our execution offensively clearly still needs some work, but this team will be in every league game.  If and when they learn to score more effectively this team will be a serious dark horse to win Arch Madness.

Local Saluki nailed it. You seldom see many Saluki jerseys under the basket crashing the boards.

Just listened to the Trent Brown interview and it reminded me of why he is one of my favorite players.  I am NOT saying he is one of the best players, just one of my favorites.  He totally called himself out on the 4 turnovers.  I've seen players with 5,6+ turnovers and not take responsibility.  I really hope he can find his rhythm and really start helping the team both offensively and defensively.

Young head coach. Young people make mistakes.  Now does he learn from that mistake?  If yes, forget it.  If no, pass out the torches to the town folk and light this candle.

That's my take from the last 10 seconds.  We all expect mistakes from young people doing things for the first time.  We all did too.  this is no different.  Believe me, it's much different actually making the decision at the end of the game than being an assistant that has to help implement it.  Especially when you're fairly new at it.  Drawing from memories of how things worked out in the past are invaluable.  I did not listen to any of the post game interview.  Did he give a reason he went the way that he did?  Let's be honest, Bryan was somewhat handcuffed.  It isn't like he could have the ball passed down low to one of his 5's, hoping for a shooting foul, and expect the free throws to be made.

The one aspect that helps coaches the most about experience, is how fast you identify your team.  And I don't mean by each player's name, but how they perform in certain situations -- alone and as a member of a team.  Early on in a coaches career it might take most of a season.  I bet Coach K has it down the first couple days of camp.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

If nothing else, I think Bryan Mullins has bought in a lot of guys like Trent Brown into the Saluki tent. Hoping also that he gets back to 100% in the health department.

The Trent Brown interview was excellent  but listening to all of the player interviews lately one thing can be said that this team is made up of quality student athletes and if Bryan keeps recruiting this type of players I have no doubt that the future will be bright for this program. They are good players but even better people

On a side note: I spoke with G. Sturtz’ dad at the game Monday. He said Garret will probably use his Covid year and stay with the team next season. Saluki killer. LOL !

We should just fast forward to the end of the season, where they'll finish 15-14, win a game in St. Louis, then lose the next one... season over.  I just can't get my hopes up for this particular team right now, as there's not enough talent to make any serious run at either the MVC crown or any magical run in St. Louis in March.

I just wanted to BUMP this, as I mentioned it back in the middle of January, and should the Dawgs win on Friday and then fall on Saturday, this prediction will end up being 100 percent spot-on.
