First things first...any time you can not play your best and still win is the sign of a good team.  I don't fault our effort, but our offense stunk it up tonight.  Defense and Domask saved our bacon.  Still, Drake outplayed us most of the game.

I still don't get Bryan's rotations.  Is he related to Trent Brown or something?  I hate to pile on, but I echo what others have said.  He adds ZERO to the team when he's in there.  He can't guard anybody.  Notice how the other teams go right at him when he's on the floor,  which results in him either getting blown by or fouling.  He's also a liability on offense.  Even when he's able to get off a shot or is left wide-open, he usually bricks.  Sorry, but he belongs at the end of the bench....not in the starting line-up.

Not a huge fan of D'Amico, either.  When he or Brown are on offense, they almost always just throw the ball right back to whoever gave it to them.  D'Amico dribbling the ball straight out of bounds tonight the one time he tried to drive was pathetic.  Incidentally, we are undefeated since Rupert took his starting spot.

I will of course continue to root for them, but I'd much rather see Wonders, Newton, Hornecker, & Ferguson getting more minutes.

And yes, Ebube is fat and out of shape.  That's on him, not Mullins.

Sorry to be somewhat negative after a big win.  I really like our team and just wish we could come up with some rotations and an offense that work.  I hate the amount of possessions where we pass up shot after shot, only to panic with 4 seconds left....or even worse end up not even getting off a shot!

Keep winning ugly, but....FREE WONDERS & HORNECKER!!!!

I know it’s not the norm to shake up the starting lineup during a winning streak but I wonder if putting Brown on the bench might help the team AND Trent by taking a little pressure off him and mixing things up. He’s certainly not earning that spot in any measurable way.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but if you look at the actual box score you can see that Troy was a big reason for the comeback. he may not stuff the stat sheet but he was +13 in 17 minutes.

I'm not sure why so many people think that coach is going to just throw a freshman in a high pressure MVC game just because "they can shoot or they are big". You get opportunities as they are earned. In a perfect world, Cade would still be redshirted.

@beadmedaddio I'll admit that it might be that I'm tired and depressed and just more cranky than usual (which is saying something) but Carbondale and SIU are not anywhere near what they used to be...

It also might be that it's kinda a ghost town since it's break...

(but I've spent so little time in Carbondale in the last 15 plus years it's still weird when I don't see the little parking garage NE of the Student Center, or the Triads, or McAndrew Stadium...)

EDIT I think I'm starting to be a grumpy old man, which is funny because people are surprised that I'm older than 25 and therefore could probably pass for an old-looking student.

Domask is making some memories. What a season he’s had.

Let’s figure out a way to get him a little more help and Arch Madness could be fun.

I have been watching the Salukis win and lose since the days of Walt Frazier. I have never seen anything like what I saw Marcus Domask do in that game scoring the last 15 points, literally single-handedly winning that game for us. His clutch free-throw shooting hitting 10 of 11 just cool as a cucumber and that dagger 3 pointer WILL go down in Saluki lore. Yeah, I clearly would rather have Marcus on my team than DeVries! MVP of the MVC? Absolutely Domask!

After last night, Lance is shooting sub-30 percent from 3-point range on the season. If he can start shooting at closer to a 40 percent clip, Southern should remain a factor in the MVC race.

I also would be curious to see what his numbers split is this year in first and second halves ... seems like he has been a main culprit in the sluggish first half outputs.

We’re really not a good 3 point shooting team, but we have capable shooters, even guys who are getting playing time. Not sure that they will, but if they do start knocking them down, we could legitimately go win this thing.

For the amount of people that were in the crowd, they were actually very lively. If you were there, you would've seen that every time the team needed any sort of pick me up, it got very loud. Need several thousand more people to get the place rocking, but the ones that showed up did their job.

Just wanted to touch on D'Amico a bit. He does feel a bit gun shy at this point. His outside shot isn't falling at least not at the clip he would like and he seems to not want to bang down low like Domask does. When he does drive, he is looking to kick it out instead of finish at the rim like someone who is 6'7" should (that goes for a lot of our players...the only people who drive and look to finish consistently are Domask and Jones). Having said that, I would say on that drive where he lost the ball, he was fouled and it didn't get called. He had beat DeVries on the baseline and DeVries basically gave him a two hand body check to slow him down. D'Amico does give them some additional size and I think plays pretty solid defense when he is matched up at the right position (i.e. the 3/4 spot). He's also just a sophomore so far from a finished product...hopefully his offensive game will come to him.
