For the amount of people that were in the crowd, they were actually very lively. If you were there, you would've seen that every time the team needed any sort of pick me up, it got very loud. Need several thousand more people to get the place rocking, but the ones that showed up did their job.

Keep winning, get the kids back in school. They'll start coming.

I forgot to ask this last night....

For those of you watching the game on ESPN+, was the audio and the video out of sync by almost a full second or so?

I wasn't watching live, but the archive had massive audio video sync issues

EDIT it felt more like 2 seconds, though

Yes. It made for a very odd viewing experience.

You're right. It probably was closer to 2 seconds. I was just worried. Thought it might have been my Black Friday new TV and soundbar be the issue.

I can call the kids at our local junior high A/V class and see if they can help.

First things first...any time you can not play your best and still win is the sign of a good team.  I don't fault our effort, but our offense stunk it up tonight.  Defense and Domask saved our bacon.  Still, Drake outplayed us most of the game.

I still don't get Bryan's rotations.  Is he related to Trent Brown or something?  I hate to pile on, but I echo what others have said.  He adds ZERO to the team when he's in there.  He can't guard anybody.  Notice how the other teams go right at him when he's on the floor,  which results in him either getting blown by or fouling.  He's also a liability on offense.  Even when he's able to get off a shot or is left wide-open, he usually bricks.  Sorry, but he belongs at the end of the bench....not in the starting line-up.

Not a huge fan of D'Amico, either.  When he or Brown are on offense, they almost always just throw the ball right back to whoever gave it to them.  D'Amico dribbling the ball straight out of bounds tonight the one time he tried to drive was pathetic.  Incidentally, we are undefeated since Rupert took his starting spot.

I will of course continue to root for them, but I'd much rather see Wonders, Newton, Hornecker, & Ferguson getting more minutes.

And yes, Ebube is fat and out of shape.  That's on him, not Mullins.

Sorry to be somewhat negative after a big win.  I really like our team and just wish we could come up with some rotations and an offense that work.  I hate the amount of possessions where we pass up shot after shot, only to panic with 4 seconds left....or even worse end up not even getting off a shot!

Keep winning ugly, but....FREE WONDERS & HORNECKER!!!!

Just wanted to touch on D'Amico a bit. He does feel a bit gun shy at this point. His outside shot isn't falling at least not at the clip he would like and he seems to not want to bang down low like Domask does. When he does drive, he is looking to kick it out instead of finish at the rim like someone who is 6'7" should (that goes for a lot of our players...the only people who drive and look to finish consistently are Domask and Jones). Having said that, I would say on that drive where he lost the ball, he was fouled and it didn't get called. He had beat DeVries on the baseline and DeVries basically gave him a two hand body check to slow him down. D'Amico does give them some additional size and I think plays pretty solid defense when he is matched up at the right position (i.e. the 3/4 spot). He's also just a sophomore so far from a finished product...hopefully his offensive game will come to him.

OK, I know there are lies, damn lies, and then statistics. But I went back over this 7 game winning streak and added up the +/- for every player. Of the 7 games, only two players of the 9 that played every game had a + score for every game. One was Domask, the other was Troy D'Amico. I don't know the significance of that stat other than it seems like when Troy is in the game, we are scoring more points than the opponent. It is interesting that during that streak, all nine Salukis have a net positive: (1)Domask, +86; (2)Jones, + 63; (3)D'Amico, +49; (4)Banks, +44; (5)Muila, +44; (6)Johnson, +35; (7)Rupert, +33; (8)Brown, +26; (9)Newton, +12.  And here is another bone to chew on, for the last 3 conference games (Drake, Belmont and Murray St.) the total +/- is : (1) Domask, +39; (2) D'Amico, +33; (3)Muila, +18; (4) Jones, +17;(5) Johnson, +16; (6)Banks, +14; (7) Brown, +9; (8) Rupert, +8; (9) Newton, (-18). For whatever reason, it seems like D'Amico is adding some value to the mix and the Salukis are doing better with him in the game.

@class-of-69

Thanks for putting this together.  Interesting indeed.  I'm all about stats and also rely quite a bit on the eye test.  My eyes have been telling me that Troy is not playing nearly as well as I think he can, or as well as he should.  Some alternate stats support this.  He's shooting a paltry 26% from 3.  He has 6 assists on the year vs 15 turn overs.  In his defense, he was asked to play the 5 which certainly do not play to his strengths.  Coach obviously trusts him so I expect he will continue to get plenty of PT.  I hope he can improve on the shooting and TO's and even further improve that impressive +/- stat.

D’Amico seems like a good defender.  On EvanMiya, he’s been worth -0.85 OBPR (worst on the team) but +1.32 DBPR (best on the team).

Overall, all qualified players have a positive BPR but Brown (-0.43)

@insaluki Yeah, I don't know what all the plus/minus chart takes into account, but those stats you just quoted are AWFUL.  Not saying we should give up on him.  He's only a Sophomore and has plenty of room for improvement.

I think Troys current role and minutes played are just about right now that Mullins has canned the silly notion of force-fitting him into a 5. He’s got good size/strength, is a fundamentally good defender, and is sneakily more athletic than people give him credit for.

To me, the more obvious holes are Brown and, to a lesser extent, Newton. Definitely need more consistent production from those two seniors quickly, or Wonders and Ferguson should without a doubt be eating into their minutes. They already should be, imo.

There's going to be a day that Domask no longer is walking to that center circle. On that day, I really want a senior Troy D'Amico to be there. He's got the body type and IQ for a perfect small forward. He's not a super star and was never expected to be. But he fits the mold for a guy you want as a key role player. Unrelated to the D'amico conversation, for a team on a 7 game win streak, this game thread was absurdly pessimistic. This team has earned some benefit of the doubt when it comes to falling behind early. We'd all love to not have to come back every game but way too many people were throwing in the towel and trashing the rotations immediately. I think everyone agrees Brown should no longer be playing big minutes but it's a senior and we're on a long winning streak. Other than his spot, there's really no obvious rotation faults we can point to right now. And Muila has been fantastic the last couple of games. His defensive presence and rebounding prowess EARNED him the right to close that game over Rupert. They're a great 1-2 tandem and I'm very happy we have those two down low.
