Did anyone hear RW ask KD if the team watches film together, and that discussion? Telling.
Is the POG interview posted or saved anywhere? Like to hear that exchange again.
Usually the Saluki Sports Network twitter account posts them…the Nagy interview is up, but not the one with KD. You can listen to the game replay and fast forward through the game to re-listen there if you really want to hear it again.
Tough line of questioning for sure and KD did his best in answering it. Really tough for him to have a good answer at this point…talk is cheap, actions speak volumes.
Thanks for posting that telling interview with KD. It seems obvious that something is not right with the team chemistry. KD seemed like the most unhappy person in the world. His responses to some hard hitting questions were guarded but he said enough he said something along the lines it is time to quit joking around in practice, be quiet and get serious. Yes, KD, think it is too. We all do.
Wow. Everyone should listen to this. RW doesn’t hold back.
“I didn’t like your fight, and I didn’t like anybody on your teams fight, and I’m telling ya those banners up there-that wouldn’t have worked”
Takeaway for me is a question: the team doesn’t sit down in a room with coaches and watch film and get critiqued? I can’t believe that. Surely they don’t just send out the link and let team self critique.
It certainly appeared that they weren’t going to watch film as a group. If so, that’s not good. Certainly too early to condemn this coach but yesterday’s game was the worst basketball played in that building since 1981. It was horrible.
it’s been since 2007 that SIU was in the NCAA tournament. It’s 18 years since then. With nothing in sight for at least two or more years. We are insignificant in the college hoop scene. If you are talking several more years before we get back? That is 25 years without a single postseason game. That’s not what incoming players want and look for in this day and age of recruiting.@tj-mcflys I support the team and university no matter what. I expressed my opinion about coach Mullins but that doesn’t matter now. I am behind the coach we have. I don’t think we are very good and it may take several years to get better. Go dawgs!!!!!!
our NET is now 268 after yesterdays turd. we are lodged between Alabama state and stonehill. the only valley team lower than us is Evansville, and well......

Watch the video and notice Coach Watson at the beginning of the interview with KD. Coach Watson body language speaks volumes. You can tell that (as his question) was asked. He was not even close of being happy with the direction of SIU basketball is headed. You’re not in the business as long he has been without knowing that something is wrong with this team.
Watson knows what we all know. We had the right coach here. We had the culture. It was happening. Most of you impatient people couldn’t see it or didn’t want to. Now we are screwed, maybe forever. Nagy is clearly and AWFUL leader of men. Dudes body language is a joke. This is his GARBAGE ASS team. No fight. I hate this team. They’re losers and it starts at the top with the chancellor, the AD and the head coach. Absolute BUMS.
I am a huge Brian Mullins fan, but I understood why he was let go.
I was initially very excited for Coach Nagy and the Salukis.
That being said, I can't remember a Saluki basketball team with less effort and enthusiasm...and I lived through the Gottfried years. (Went to every home game, including the 0-16 year)
In listening to Coach Nagy in his post game interviews it is obvious that he is frustrated (which is totally normal), but I'm also concerned he might be letting his frustration seep into his outlook. If you're the coach, you are the one guy who has to stay focused and continue pushing your team to perform at their peak level, whatever that may be. If the players are starting to think his has thrown in the towel, then this season is over.
Moving forward, I will be looking for this team to come out next game and play hard for 40 minutes. If that happens, then win or lose, that would be a huge step in the right direction.
In the years BM was here I was pained when we didn't make it back to the NCAA's, but I was never pained by their effort. Watching this current team give minimal effort is totally unacceptable.
I really hope Coach Nagy has it in him to right this ship.
On a side note: I have been reading everyone's opinion on this site for 6 or 7 years and I appreciate your insights and your passion for the Salukis.
Go Dawgs!
We had the culture. It was happening.
The culture of 6th in the Missouri Valley and losing on Thursday to a UIC team that also fired their coach

Just because Nagy MAY NOT have been a good hire (it’s year one, albeit a terrible one), does not mean that sticking with Mullins was the right course of action.
There is very little evidence beyond pure faith that Year 6 was going to be a good one under Mullins, losing XJ from a team that was bounced on Thursday in STL. He had not shown much in the portal and had no high school fall signees.
I like Bryan a ton. Would he eventually have figured it out and made the needed adjustments to have the success the program needs? Maybe, maybe not, but it’s unrealistic to expect 8-10 years to get it right at a program and university desperate for success.
I really wanted Ben Howlett from West Liberty. Young(37). Has been at that program for 13 years. 6 as top assistant, 7 as head coach.
As top assistant they made the D2 Sweet 16 5 times, Elite 8 4 times, Final Four twice and Natioal Championship once.
As head coach his win % is .854. Made the D2 S16 three times. Elite 8 twice. NC/Final Four once.
And this was at an obscure small public school in the West Virginia panhandle. He has been shown to handle the portal at that level well.

you can call the bobber overly loyal, overly stubborn, perhaps even overly stupid. he would not disagree. I supported Lowery a long time because he was family. I supported Mullins for the same reason. it is the same reason I support Nick hill, even though he has a losing league record, a losing overall record, and has never contended for anything going into year TEN.
this is my saluki family, and Lowery, Mullins and hill are part of it. to treat them like any other coach just does not sit with the bobber. if you are going to fire the family, you better bring results.
this would be like firing the bobber and bringing back slapster or dean.

I get that. I feel that to an extent as well but do think moving on was justifiable, all things considered. I do think the human factor with Mullins makes it all the more critical that they get it right with the next guy from a PR and perception standpoint, and no doubt it’s been a really bad start.
