I thought Troy played one of his better games tonight. I'd like to see him use his length & post up smaller guards more often. Also like the fact he can switch multiple positions on defense.

I'm not quite sure why Ferguson doesn't get more mins. One of our only wings with some length and athleticism, which we desperately need.

Hey BM - Newsflash - We are not a 3 pt shooting team!  Before tonight's 3 pt  exhibition debacle we were 308th at 31.01% behind 306 Evansville at 31.09%  For some reason he felt compelled to let them jack 3s at 24% when we were 22/34 2s for 65%.  Can someone explain the logic to that?

Jones shouldn't shoot them! While he did win 3pt shooting his 2nd year, his #s are 29.7%, 42.6%. 33.9% and 27.6% thru tonight.  Perhaps his 1 good year is the aberration and the other 3 are his real 3 pt skill level?  There are 5 players on this team that shoot better 3s than him.

Needless to say there are several reasons the ugliness including 18 turnovers and 10/16 ft shooting as well as the inexplicable reason for not being able to inbound the ball.  We never seem to make it easy.  We squandered a chance to let some players rest and Domask has to play 34 minutes..

With Wonders and especially Brown in a deep freeze, I wouldn’t mind Ferguson getting some more chances to show what he can do.

But I’m also OK with giving Wonders time to work his way out of it this early in his career. Brown, IMO, has had his chances, but Mullins probably won’t see it that way.

Domask playing 34 minutes might be the worst part of this.  And the scary thing is, he sits 2-4 extra minutes and Evansville might have pulled this one out.

Hopefully the team takes this as a loss because they've got to play a lot better on Saturday to beat Missouri State.  Won't take away the fact that they're 7-2 and in first place.

It was a really bad last 25 minutes by us but it happens. We controlled the game and got the W. Just need to keep it together.

On a side note, remember when SalukiTalk almost imploded in 2007 when we lost at Evansville? 😂

Having to pull Cade at the end with him playing all of one minute against a D1 bottomfeeder at home was not a great feeling.

Just got home from the game and I see several posters have already said exactly what I was going to say.  This win felt more like a loss.  We played like absolute crap.  We are a horrible 3-point shooting team, yet we continue to jack them up at our 27% clip or whatever it is.  Jones seems to go 1-for-9 every single game.  And you know what?  We aren't that great at guarding the three, either.  Evansville had open looks all night long.  A win is a win, blah, blah, blah....yeah, well I guess so.  But we have to play better than this going forward if we're going to stay in the race.  And 18 turnovers??

This game was disgusting to watch. I’m not going to sit and repeat everything everyone has already said. But we got a lucky break being that it was against Evansville instead of a real team.

But.. we’re still 15-5, 7-2 and in first place. Move on and hope this crap never happens again.

A win is a win. 15-5 and 7-2 MVC. SIU has a darn good team, let's support this team, and its players. Adults posting personnel digs about 18-23 year old players is childish, and disrespectful.

After the UNI loss, some folks on this site posted that SIU would be 4-3 after their game at Blue ISU. See current record above. Shame on you.

I dislike, and find no solace in these early tournament predictions that some folks are getting elated over. Tonight was a perfect example that there is much season to be played, and improved upon.

GO DAWGS!!!

What a shit show…pathetic effort from everyone not named Domask and honestly even he had some ridiculous turnovers. We won this game but it should feel like a loss. Wake up guys, you have to earn every game.

I say that knowing full well that Evansville shot out of their minds today. I’ve never seen so many wide open 3s missed in my life.

Evansville shot 47.9% to our 46.9%. They shot the three well 52.9%, but only made 7 of 15 FTs. We played poor D 2nd half.

Doesn't give me much confidence in the future.

They average 31.1% from 3…almost as bad as us 😉 that is a pretty big jump. Some of them were open, but some of them were tough shots. I would kill for a 35% night from 3. The frustrating thing for me, they aren’t a bunch of contested 3s they are warmup shot wide open 3s. The people missing them have demonstrated the ability to make them at a much higher clip in the past. It’s really pretty amazing to see so many people shooting so far below historical norms.

@siudawgs Yeah, I don't mind Wonders getting mins because he has a pure stroke & we need all of the shooting we can get.

I'm just happy Mullins realized we can't have 3 6'1 players on the floor at the same time, especially if they can't shoot. I love Trent but he gets hunted out there, especially if he's on the floor w/ Lance & Xavier. Just too small. That's why I'd like to see Ferguson get some more mins.

RW to BM; you played 11 guys - hard to get into a rhythm when you play that many

(just what I've been saying)

BM didn't know what to say - we've played 10 guys most of the year....

I think it's great to have depth and think SIU is wearing teams down because of their depth but when you get to March, rotations are going to tighten.  You really have to figure out your 8 or 9 best guys.  Hinson got a lot of flack here but one of the things he was good at was figuring out rotations during the stretch run of Valley play and SIU often finished strong under him.  Didn't translate to Arch Madness success though.

Depth is nice but constant rotation changes and pulling guys out after a minute or two you just cannot get into a rhythm and Watson's absolutely right.

I do  agree that Barry teams really improved  a lot by February. I'm just saying ( as the official Saluki armchair coach 🙂... and the official Saluki radio coach agrees with me) you need to find six seven eight guys that get most of the minutes and turn those guys into a well-oiled machine and then you know you got your role players.

And then of course there are times when a guy or two comes off the bench and really sparks your team and that's great when it happens.

Another way to do it is the way Mike Anderson  St John's coach does it and he runs in you know two fives and presses constantly and you know that can really work too he's had a lot of good teams.

I really think the biggest problem with the Salukis offensively is that we just shoot too many threes we don't drive the ball enough we don't work it inside we don't you know coach up those big guys so they can score inside. I think that's the way to go when you're not a great three-point shooting team and we certainly are not.
