Lickliter is likely going to get fired so what difference does it make?
exactly. who cares?
Craving a McBride Special!
Mullins is at least taking some personal responsibility on air for this nearly embarrassing loss.
So that’s a positive.
He even mentioned himself not calling the right plays and not getting Domask involved
A nearly loss is like being nearly pregnant. Do you want no transition defense or no offensive rebounds? Pick your poison.
Right on schedule. I knew you would be here to defend an indefensibly poor showing at home against an absolutely horrible Evansville team. 🙄
last I checked we won.
Craving a McBride Special!
Rodney Watson just came as close as a paid SIU analyst possibly can to blasting this team’s lack of offensive rebounding, which is obviously coached to the players.
He even said it’s not like Okafor is in transition. Lol
Put Watson on the staff as the veteran assistant with all the 30-something’s. I’m being serious too.
No. Just no.
Craving a McBride Special!
Lol. The total acceptance of below average play.
We have the team and program we deserve.
Completely unwatchable product. No improvement. Same issues.
Go Team.

Thoughts from the game....
I can't believe how gun-shy Domask has become. He's really struggling to make decisions. Hopefully, it was just an off-night for him.
Coupet tipping in that last shot was no more dickish than Lickliter calling time-out with 3 seconds left, down by 5, and SIU with possession. Refusing to shake hands, however, was way more dickish than either.
Dalton Banks is really improving.
Filewich deserved more PT in the second half.
Trent Brown must look really, really good in practice to get the kind of PT he's getting. Otherwise, I just don't get it.

Agree about Domask - he won't shoot that 3 unless he's been open for a good while - too long in my opinion. Needs to pull the trigger.
Also don't have a problem with Coupet's shot - in a very close game. Lick's gonna be Lick ety split before you know it.
Jones only played 24 minutes tonight. Both he and Coupet were looking very unhappy that last minute when taken out of the game. Those guys deserve to be starters and to get a lot of minutes. Anything else makes no sense considering our offensively-challenged roster.
Unless you have two starting 5s on your roster, I think constantly jerking guys in and out of the game is a poor strategy unless you press the whole game.
Domask has been such a good player this year. His passing has gotten so much better from his Freshman season.
I think if SIU wants to take that next step though next year, in addition to adding some physical players that can create their own shot, they really need Domask to up his shooting. He's only shooting 40.4% overall which is down from 46.9% his Freshman year despite only taking about 2 shots per game more and his 3 point shooting has slipped too despite shooting less 3's. I'm not sure if the hip is an issue still or it's just teams focusing their attention on him but he has been a lot more tentative this year even compared to his Freshman season. SIU just doesn't have the scoring most nights to not have him be the best player or 2nd best player on the floor.

You ignored my question, Mr. Blue.

I have seen Trent Brown play some pretty good defense, but his passing decisions are very questionable, and not just for the game tonight. Love Filewich and Muila banging low. Muila is impressing me more each game with his defense and his trips to the FT line are interesting with the little hesitation before his release. Filewich had a great game tonite and does it look to anybody else that he is still growing? To me it looks like he has noticeably bulked up from his freshman year.

Lance Jones was in foul trouble in the 2nd half and that's why he only played 24 minutes. If we can get the win and limit Lance's minutes a little, that is a good thing. We need him to have his legs at the end of the year and in the mvc tourney. Domask is definitely nursing injuries and is still not at 100%. He played 36 minutes last night and has been playing 36-38 minutes pretty consistently, which is too much. With all the minutes and nagging injuries he is struggling.
I agree Domask has been tentative to shoot the ball recently and believe he is hampered by injuries. I wish he would shoot more when open. However, while he has been a little more limited offensively, he is doing other things that many times go unnoticed. He has definitely been a stat sheet stuffer. Here is where he stands statistically in the MVC:
Assists to turnovers - 3rd in the league (2 ahead of him are guards)
Assists per game - 4th in the league (3 ahead of him are guards)
FT% - 6th in the league
Scoring - 11th in the league
Rebounding - 14th in the league
I hope Marcus regains more confidence in his shot, and that may come with recovery and better health. However, in all the other facets of the game he continues to improve and show his incredible value to this team.

Lickliter is a soon to be unemployed D-Bag. Calling a TO with 6 seconds left, down by 5 and on defense is a D-Bag move. I'm glad Coupet scored at the buzzer, the D-Bag deserved it. After he is fired he can enjoy his legacy of being the coach with by far the worst winning percentage in the long history of Iowa Hawkeye basketball!
