I think Aligbe's upside is much higher than Ebube's. Aligbe has range and incredible athleticism. His handles are also outstanding for his size. He is much quicker and his cardio is much better than Ebube. He can play the 4 or 5. Nagy has even said he may play some 4. Lastly, Aligbe is already a pretty decent free throw shooter. I would rather have Ebube than Moreno however.Sounds like more good than bad overall. I do still find myself wishing they’d held on to Ebube, who I think would be the best option among the true 5 men to deal with legit post players. The combination of Hensley, Massey and Aligbe should be effective in smaller lineups, though.

I am excited about what I’ve heard about Aligbe and optimistic he’ll have a great career, but skeptical he’ll provide more in his first year in a D1 program than Ebube would have as a fourth-year junior. Aligbe being able to contribute as a freshman is certainly a win, though. Would like to have them both.
I meant his upside overall, not this year compared to Ebube. Ebube certainly should have a better year statistically than Algbe this year given his experience. However, I would take Aligbe for his potential overall, hoping he stays for 4 years. I do believe he will be a significant contributor this year though, even as a true freshman. The main takeaway for everyone I spoke to who watched the inter-team scrimmage with me was that Aligbe was incredibly impressive and the exhibition against North Park just reinforced our opinions. I wonder, given our best players are 2's and 3's (Dibba, Davis, etc.), how often will two of our three bigs be on the floor at the same time. Assuming Massey, Hensley, and Aligbe get the bulk of the playing time at the 4/5. Foul trouble and/or injury could make it hard to keep two of them on the floor at once.
So, do we see Bey, Davis, Dibba playing the 4 spot a lot? Or do Moreno and/or Webber get spot time at the 5? Will probably depend on the opponent.

And don’t forget about Sykes, who is a good rebounder.
For what it's worth, Ebube not only didn't start, but only played 4 minutes in Wyoming's scrimmage against College of Idaho and had 0 pts and 1 rebound. I am NOT saying he is worse or better than guys on our team, especially since there is no context to the above stats, but they are what they are. I desperately wanted Ebube to stay, but HE DIDN'T so I am rooting for the guys that are here.

I thought Ebube would have benefited greatly from playing in the Horizon with Green Bay, he would have dominated that league. Going to the Mountain West when Wicks got that job is going to be tough.

Not sure what the deal with playing time in the scrimmage was but from this recent article, it sounded like Ebube will be a big part of Wyoming's plans. I absolutely think he has the body and athleticism to compete in that league, especially if well-coached and well-conditioned.

I was a big Ebube fan but I think he would have had a hard time staying on the floor with this fast paced game.

Maybe but my money would be on him in a conditioning competition with Moreno.
This is a good point, Sykes started at the 4 for Texas State and had 6.9 rebounds a game. My best guess at this point would be the 80 minutes a game at the 4 and 5 will be split mostly between Aligbe, Massey, Hensley and Sykes. Also, maybe Moreno gets some run at the 5 against slower back to the basket type centers if Nagy wants to match up. Of course, this early it's all wild speculation.I wonder, given our best players are 2's and 3's (Dibba, Davis, etc.), how often will two of our three bigs be on the floor at the same time. After watching practice and the exhibition my dream starting 5 would be:
Elliott, Dibba, Davis, Hensley, Aligbe. First off the bench Massey and Mayo. Next off the bench Sykes, Bey & Steffe. Going to be very tough to cut that downs to 8 like Nagy wants. There is going to be a couple talented guys riding the pine!
Edit: I wouldn't be upset if Massey started over Hensley with Hensley 1st off the bench with Mayo, as I think both Hensley and Massey bring a lot to the table at the 4.

I think Hensley has a chance to have a breakout year scoring the basketball. He has the tools, and now he has the system to better suit his multi-dimensional skill set.
