I hated to see Ferguson go, but we do seem to have many of the same type player. I definitely would rather have Davis.
As for bigs, I like the ones we have, but wish Rupert would have stayed.
Agree - having Rupert back would have been a big boost for the team, but Davis was the #1 priority - talented kid who will just get better. Also would have been nice to have D'Amico back. Solid player.
I wasn't nearly as sold on Ebube as others. Would have been nice but not the end of the world. Also wasn't as sold on Ferguson. Good rebounder but not much of a scorer. No great loss IMO.
Where would Ferguson have played? He wouldn't start over Davis or Dibba.
Ferguson played hurt all of last year. He is explosive and can shoot the 3. A healthy Ferguson is a very good player. Also, he was our leading scorer very early last year before he got hurt.Agree - having Rupert back would have been a big boost for the team, but Davis was the #1 priority - talented kid who will just get better. In 2 games for Murray so far this year Ferguson is averaging 9.5ppg, leading the team at 6rpg, also leading the team at 3.5 APG, 1 steal pre game. His assist to turnover ratio is 2.5/1. He is shooting 58% FG and 33% from 3. I'd say that's a pretty darn good stat line for a player on a pretty decent team.

Averages are deceiving. He had 9 getting whipped by Pitt and 10 in an 86 point win against NAIA Bethel college.
Last year missed 7 games early in the conference season. Then played the rest of the season averaging 27 mpg.
Never was the leading scorer. That was XJ by a mile. Best game: Chicago State he had 20. Had 7 games of 10 - 16 points. Had a number of games where he disappeared and scored very little. Shot < 30% from three. 4th leading scorer per game, 2nd in rbs.
We beat Oklahoma St. and destroyed SLU without him.
I'm sure he could help us some, but for the most part, I'm fine with the guys we have. Don't see him as being a star player at Murray.
Again, he got hurt in the James Madison game and played hurt after he came back from injury the entire year. He was severely limited. The coaching staff obviously didn't want to advertise that to our opponents. In the 1st 2 games before he got hurt he had 13 points and 20 points respectively. He outscored XJ in the 2nd game. He starts for Murray and currently leads them in minutes played, rebounds, assists and shooting percentage. Yes, that's only through 2 games, but one game was against a very good Pitt team. I like our team, but AJ at 6'7" with explosiveness, a nice stroke, good defense, rebounding and passing would be a welcome addition no matter how many guys you have at the 2, 3 and 4 spots. Nagy likes to play fast and that would have fit with Ferguson's game tremendously. Let's revisit this after Murray has played their non con. I would bet he is one of their best players and his overall game is impressive.Ferguson played hurt all of last year. He is explosive and can shoot the 3. A healthy Ferguson is a very good player. Watching the DePaul-Mercer game last night was like watching an MVC reunion. Bryan Mullins and Jack Owens were on the DePaul bench. D’Amico, Enright, Rivera, and Benson all played substantial minutes and contributed. Blue Demons are 3-0 matching their win total of last season.

From what I have been told, Mullins got in on N J Benson late while SIU HC. Too bad, he's going to become a great player. I believe DePaul has been undefeated in the past heading into Big East play, and has finished last or very near the bottom of the league multiple years in a row. Not so sure that will change soon. BTW: Their first 8 games are all at home. They had 2,500 folks in attendance for last nights contest.
I think DePaul will be competent this year, which is a huge upgrade, but I can’t see them competing much in the Big East with that roster
It will be interesting to watch DePaul in the Big East this year. I wonder if they are ever going to contemplate a different conference if they continue to be the bottom dweller. It has been a while since they have been able to compete with the higher echelon of college basketball. Their talent this year is much better than past years.
I think and hope they get their ass kicked in the Big East. An OT win over S. Indiana at home and a 16 pt. win against D3 Ill. Wesleyan does not impress.
Benson is not playing much for some reason. Holtman is an expert at underperforming with talent - see Ohio State.
They have a beautiful arena nowhere near campus - in South Loop 30 minutes away.
Ebube, once again, shockingly only played 7 minutes with 0pts, 3 rebounds and 2 fouls in their blowout loss to Tex Tech yesterday. I really thought he would be a major part of their team this year.
@insaluki I watched most of the seven minutes he played. He played hard, but looked overmatched. He got caught in no-man’s land on a screen and roll and his man dunked on an alley-oop pass. On offense they had him setting high screens spending a lot of time 15-20 feet from the basket. He did not look comfortable in their offense.

The season is in its infancy and it's far too early too call anyone a disappointment, but the early returns are not encouraging. It could be that he'll follow the same pattern he did at SIU -- occasional brilliance that shows unlimited potential and gets the fans excited, but all too often a non-factor.
Also watched Foster Wonders play as Green Bay was putting a beat down on Western Illinois. He hit his first three that I saw and missed a pull-up jumper after being chased off the three-point line.
I was not impressed by the defense played by either Green Bay or Wyoming. Since Wyoming’s coach is the former Green Bay coach, it may have been their philosophy to not work very hard at it. Wyoming gave up numerous drives to the basket. Green Bay did not close on shooters very well. Western struggled shooting. Texas Tech did not.
Texas Tech coach is the former Wyoming coach. Part of his being released from his contract was that Texas Tech had to agree to play Wyoming on a home and home.
