You know why this one bothers me? Because it's one that didn't have to happen.

Wonders defense really wasn't bad enough to warrant planting him on the bench when he was one of the few players that could get his own shot. And this is with SIU struggling to score.

Just eat into Newton or Browns minutes just a little bit.

What's really unfortunate is Foster is going to end up playing for a lesser program in front of dead gyms (yes, likely closer to home) while SIU sits on a pile of open rides and has tons of available playing time and a need for scorers.

Quite a bummer this rift couldn't have been mended.

I'm looking at that list of suitors it is clear that he was a bust.

Don't want to lose anyone but I won't lose sleep here.

His body language has been terrible since he arrived.

Poor shooter since hitting the Arena and is a step slow.

Very underwhelming list of contacting schools.

That's not even a list of who is serious, just who called.

Not one MVC team or above on the list.

Maybe that changes but I don't see it.

He'll end up playing at a school that doesn't care about defense and will end up shooting very well and posters will say how great this kid could have been on SIU, ignoring the fact that he struggled on defense (to put it nicely).  I am only surprised that he took this long to put his name in.   I wish him the best of luck but again will not be checking box scores next year to see how he does.  I am only interested in players who want to be here.

Without any inside info, I'm guessing he follows Monaghan to Green Bay possibly with Banks.  I'm glad no Valley schools are in on him right now.  We would see him in Carbondale next year if he goes to Southern Indiana.

He doesn’t want to play here? Fine, go find another squad. No need to be unhappy here.

I’m glad a couple people have finally said it. He’s replaceable. We’re not losing a player with an AJ Green type of skill set. I think some have a skewed perception of what type of player he is and the ceiling he has.

Good luck to him.

That may be the case but I don’t think we really got a great sense of what his upside was with such limited time on the floor. And by the way, he did hit some big 3s in his rare appearances. Not sure Southern wins the game at UIC without his first half spark.

What we do know is the program needs scorers very badly and one potential option is out the door.

Green Bay certainly needs some help. They’ve been stuck in the Horizon league cellar for the last 3 years.

defense wasn't the only place he struggled. @DirtyDale hit it outta the park. we've seen the ceiling. thanks for the 63 points and enjoy green bay dude.

I do want to make clear: I think Foster can have a solid career elsewhere. He obviously has a great stroke. I would’ve liked to see him play another year for us if he wanted to stay.

But people are panicking about him leaving and it’s an overreaction (on Saluki-Insider? No way!).  If you’re upset because you thought he could be a good 3 point shooter then sure, I understand. If you’re upset because you think we’re losing an all-around scorer…well, I hate to tell you that you were going to be disappointed if he stayed.

Foster Wonders “doesn’t want to play here” BECAUSE he just wasted TWO years of his life due to a coach who may very well be clueless.

And nobody has even hinted that Wonders has an AJ Green skillset or anything close to it.

BBQ is gone and took clueless with him.

It's over and he's gone.  Look forward.

Probably not a big surprise here. New coach in place and familiarity with an assistant after 3-29 season so lots of chances for playing time. Added bonus: closer to home.
