I don't think SIU thoroughly leveraged the positive publicity coming out of their NCAA Tournament appearances and particularly their Sweet 16 runs. Given the opportunity again, hopefully the new regime understands how to leverage that to increase enrollment, donations, etc...
I just watched the 2002 NCAA game against Texas Tech. Holy crap, was that team good: so quick and athletic. Brooks and Hairston were only freshman but didn't look it at all (especially Brooks). Utterly dominant inside and out. Dearman with 17 and 11, Roberts with 12 and 4 but 5 blocks. And the D--wow!
One of my favorite basketball plays ever was the bank pass from Korn to Roberts off the backboard!!
Roberts had taken position on the block between the goal and Andy Ellis. Korn was able to pass over the 6'11" Ellis from the top of the key and bank it off the backboard to Roberts. Roberts scored the bucket off a tip in of his initial bunny shot that bounced around the rim.
The play begins with 15:30 left in the second half (1:00:14 in video time).
Eddie Fogler and Tim Brando went on about the pass for several seconds that included Brando saying "and Korns a poppin with that pass"!!
Slow motion replay is at the 1:00:32 video time mark.
This 30 second, 2007, SIU, TV advertisement will never get old! The message is as relevant today as it was in 2007. It was almost prophetic in Bryans past and future impact at SIU!

Whoever Mary McPherson is on YouTube added a bunch of games that I added to the list in the first post:
2002:
12/01/01 SIU 72 Indiana 60 (Home) (No announcers but an on-screen scoreboard and raw video)
2004:
1/7 SIU 67 Indiana State 50 (Road)
1/11 SIU 73 Wichita State 64 (Home)
1/21 SIU 71 Illinois State 58 (Road)
2005:
I added a few 2007 and 2008 games and a bunch of games from this season that were uploaded from Mary McPherson. The 2020 games are pretty poor quality but will come in handy when ESPN stops archiving them after the season.
If Bryan wants to show the kids what the Arena can be like. He needs to show them the 2001 Indiana game. As an intense home court advantage as I have ever seen

I watched the 2007 NCAA Tourney game vs Kansas. First time I’ve ever rewatched it. It felt SIU had the upper hand that game, especially frustrating the Jayhawks with strong defense. Missed some open shots later in the game and some atrocious calls by the refs throughout (goaltending, shot clock violation) that went against SIU.
Unfortunately, that game got away from the Dawgs. I think we should have won.
Apparently we offended the basketball gods this year.
