At this point if we were double digit favorites I would bet the farm on Alcorn State after their convincing road victories at Wichita and Stephen F Austin. Ken Pom puts huge weight on expectations and the previous year. Therefore, I don't think it is that great of an early season indicator. RPI isn't accurate at this time of year either, but right now Alcorn State's RPI is #6 in the country. They obviously fall somewhere in between their RPI and Kenpom #'s.Alcorn State beat WAC preseason #3 Stephen F Austin by 9 on the road following another 9 point road win at Wichita State. They are one of our last non con home games, but they are looking legit! If we don't get our shiit together we might be the underdog going in to that one!
SIU would probably be favored by double digits right now (KenPom has 71-58). Doubt they overlook them after last year. Another “revenge” game like Little Rock.
They're a small team which might give SIU fits like Southern Indiana did. Their tallest regular is 6’7.
I'm very interested to see how USI does at Notre Dame tonight. The line right now is UND -15. I'm leaning toward thinking USI keeps it closer. Will be interesting to see how they play against a big boy on the road. Tennessee State beats D1 low major Alabama A&M 87-76. They will come to Carbondale 3-0 and preseason #2 in the OVC. Looks like they can definitely score, but may be vulnerable on defense. Definitely not the cupcake Little Rock was.
This game can't get here soon enough so we can all forget about USI.
Notre Dame making USI look bad early. Also, Chicago State absolutely blowing out Valpo!

I watched the USI v Notre Dame game. USI played a very bad 1st half to be down by 17 at the break. They played much better in the 2nd half and cut the lead to 8 at one point. I wouldn't be surprised if finish in the top 5 in the OVC in their 1st year. It's still going to be a bad loss for Southern, especially given the margin. However, they are a much better team than the Little Rock team we lost to last year.

Yup. I'm not surprised we got beat. I am surprised we got destroyed.
--Insert something witty here--
Cal Baptist just won handily at Washington. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Minnesota.

I believe the Drake game is actually at noon, no?
Yes, it was. Drake down 40-33 at the half.
Buffalo is a pretty good team, but Drake has been committing silly TO's and have looked sloppy. I keep waiting for them to "turn it on", but they have yet to, at least in the 2nd half. Currently down 7 with 14 left to play.
Drake cuts it to 2 with 7 left. They have made multiple runs but each time Buffalo has answered.
