I must say that when I peeked at my phone at work I was shocked to see the score at halftime. This team for whatever reason struggles to start games. Still evolving ? Frustrating string of games.
For those folks stating we should fire Leonard, stop giving $$$ to the collective, and that Mullins deserved a better situation and fate, it's just plain silly. It's November 26, not March 9th! TEN new players, a new HC, and new staff, it's going to take time. Let's see where this team is when the Valley tournament rolls around. We have some young talent on this team, and two very highly regarded players coming in next season. Nagy is going to get it done. He's got 30 plus years of experience, and much success to go with it. Being the HC, I'm sure he's feeling much more frustrated and upset than any of us.
IF the Dawgs lose tomorrow vs the Florida Tech Computer Science Nerds, I will send back my season tickets, ask for a refund, and stop donations to SASF! Receipt please!
"I STILL have trusty in Nagy"
GO DAWGS!!!
This season isn't lost. It's always been about the conference, we weren't going to get an ncaa at large. Those don't go out to the MVC anymore, see the 2024 Indiana State. We had 1 terrible half in this tourney and should have beaten a really good La Tech team. Sure we have definitely underperformed and it's very disappointing to date. However, this is virtually a brand new team and a brand new coaching staff. I like the tough schedule to harden them up for conference season, which is all that matters in the long run this season. Injuries haven't helped. We need to get Aligbe back as his upside is substantial. We have some talent and can compete. We just need to figure out who we are and play hard for 40 minutes every night.
- @siudawgs Did you already block out LA tech yesterday? 😂. Plus coming off the heels of the Florida beat down it just wasn't good scheduling IMO.
There’s a lot not to like at the moment but I don’t know that lamenting that the MTE was too tough is the thing to focus on. It’s a VERY pedestrian field.
I get your point about it coming off the Florida game, and maybe there’s something to that, but I’m never one to advocate for soft schedules, and with Elliott in the mix, many thought this roster had the makings of an upper-half MVC team.
Bradley at home will be by far the biggest game of the year to date. I hope folks turn out for it.
Agree with a lot of this. The only thing I’ll say is if you do win the Valley tournament, non-conference performance does matter if you want a seed that will give you a chance to win a game or two. Plus poor performance drags down the rest of the league. So I’m never one to dismiss the non-conference part of the schedule.
Realize the NCAA talk is a far-fetched hypothetical for this program these days. 😣
Wow - what a bunch of fair weather couch coaches! Mullins was a poor offensive coach and played a boring brand of basketball. Also made poor personnel decisions that cost us a few games. Lost out on most good recruits. I wish him well but good riddance.
Nagy had 1 1/2 months to recruit 10 players and a new coaching staff. He's done a great job. Now he's lost his best offensive player and today, the team gave a poor effort in that 1st half. Nobody remembers the talented Weber team that got destroyed by Creighton in the MVC tournament? It happens.
We are not going to win the MVC, but Mullins never did with two all-conference Big 10 players, one of which was first team and played on an Elite 8 team and the other a starter on a team that made it to the National Championship!
I think this team will be decent later in the season, but it's year 1. Crazy expectations! I wish anybody that pulls their contributions based on a single half of basketball a flea infestation in their coaching couch!
As I'm not into "sky-is-falling" scenarios at this early date, I agree with this rational, reasonable, even-handed take -- although wishing a flea-infested couch on anybody might be just a bit much! Things are discouraging now and there's a lot of bad karma with all the injuries and poor play, but there's also an awful lot of basketball left to be played. WAY too early to call for people to be fired or to declare this Joe Gottfried Era 2.0. Maybe we are, indeed, looking at a 20-loss season, and that would be hard to swallow, but I also think there's potential for improvement as this group learns to play together. What I saw against Florida was a bunch of guys still trying to find their way.
BTW Hawkins was not on the bench today but was yesterday.
Guessing he is sick?
That changes the dynamic big time as Hawkins does 100% of the substitutions.BTW Hawkins was not on the bench today but was yesterday.

It’s a lost season. The only teams in the MVC worse are Indiana State, Valpo, and Evansville.
That's not even close to true. Let's revisit this in 6 weeks. Tune out at your own peril. It’s a lost season. The only teams in the MVC worse are Indiana State, Valpo, and Evansville.
There seems to be a common thought that this team is new the coach is new so on and so on that they will get better later in the season first of all they have been together since June not 6 weeks which has been stated also one thing that has not been mentioned in today's college basketball as well as other sports turnover of the roster is a way of life and just to play devils advocate won't all the other teams get better also but the thing I can't stand is the lackluster start to ballgame there is no excuse for that
