Only silver lining is we could be pretty darn good if Elliott came back next year with his medical redshirt. However, ACL tears can take up to a year to fully heal so it wouldn't be guaranteed he would be ready for the season, let alone fall practice.
Yes, the threshold for a medical redshirt is you don't play in 30% of your teams games prior to a season ending injury.Would he be eligible to come back next year?
Yeah I would say having Elliott back if he’s (hopefully) healthy would be the one good news here. In today’s landscape though, he could also do what Aaron Cook did and use his 5th year somewhere else
First our starting QB in football, now a senior leader on the hardwood out for the season. Injury bug has not been good to Salukis this fall.

This is nothing against Elliot but I hope not.
He is already a 5th year senior.
The era of 24 and 25 year old players just needs to end.

It seems as if our flagship programs have a severe case of snakebite when it comes to injuries. Domask in 2020-21. XJ hurting badly and struggling through the end of the season last year. The QB and many other injuries this season in football. Now this. Heck, going all the way back to my freshman year, we probably would have made the NCAA tournament in '78 if Gary Wilson, our star player, hadn't gotten hurt in the next-to-last regular-season game.
This will be a real test of the next-man-up philosophy, and though my expectations are tempered, I'll be rooting for Sharp, who stuck with the program last spring while almost everyone else was bailing out.
Terrible news about Elliot! 😭 Man, he was a baller. We're definitely going to miss his offense.
I figured we'd start Mayo at point with Sharp coming off the bench as backup PG. Sharp may eventually have a chance to crack the starting lineup if he turns out to be a more productive PG.https://twitter.com/siu_basketball/status/1861134036464181577?s=46&t=7s0hTttieSER8wqRSA0LoA

While I myself would get rid of it, ON TOP OF NIL, the reality is it is a rule and it wouldn't make sense to not welcome back, who has been, our best offensive player this season.
Sounds like an ugly start
Sharp in and a turnover
This team's poor shooting has been troublesome all year, especially from 3pt range. Deficient up to 9 already + foul.
