sweet 16 of lowery vs 12-13 bad…. Come on man! Let me sell ya a real nice wheat penny that’s worth 2 million!
Who ya all crappin?Wow, I just took an educated guess that this was Dean and that post confirms I was right. Dean=troll. Lowery inherited Weber and Painters players who pretty much coached themselves. Then he recruited terrible human beings ruining the culture. After that he just gave up. He destroyed the program. That's the last time I will respond to a troll like Dean.
Now now. Lowery's team did play Ohio Dominican tough!
Funny thing about C-Lo is Weber loves the guy, loves him. I can see why he would stay with a cushy assistant job at K-State where there is no pressure to really win much.
I still think Lowery will have a second act as a head coach at some point. I would imagine he has turned down opportunities too.
No reason to leave that job making several hundred grand a year.
I hope he is a head coach again and does well wherever that is.

Maybe DePaul is still interested

Did you forget C-Blow went 8-22 his final season with HIS players? (Including his cousin who couldn't start for most D-2 teams and players he signed out of desperation/laziness without ever seeing them play) 🙄

Thank you. I am so sick of people who think this should be a championship program in 3 years, that isn't even considering the obstacles of the last 2 years.
I'm not giving anyone a "pass" including Coach Mullins. And, yes, I'm calling him coach out of respect even though I'm a generation older than him.
Making comparisons to his record and the record of any past coach at SIU or any current coaches in the Valley is fruitless. Covid has wreaked havoc on college sports. Not only a distruption in scheduled games, by nullifying the 20-21 academic year and giving every an extra year of eligibility. It will be another 2-3 years before we know the true status of our program.
I'm reserving judgement until then. I suggest the rest of you do the same. Some of the lunacy I'm seeing posted by absolute imbeciles on the Saluki Athletics Facebook posts are sickening. Again, the sense of "entitlement" baffles me.

Nobody thought they were a championship program this year coming in. They're an under .500 team playing a weak schedule though.
Without seeing who in the Valley is leaving and returning, I'm guessing no matter what SIU is picked in the middle of the pack next year behind Murray, Belmont, Drake, Missouri St, Bradley and maybe Northern Iowa depending on what they do. Yeah, some of these teams lose 5th year Seniors but they can just as easily build themselves back up quickly via the transfer portal.
Just have to look at what Bradley did last season getting Terry Roberts and Malevy Leons. There's no reason Bradley should be ahead of SIU right now after their scandal last season in Springfield and losing Sean East, Elijah Childs, and Ja'Shon Henry (to injuries) but they are.
Man been awhile since I've been around (mediocrity degrades interest afterall) but some things never change. Good ol' dean being a big ol' troll, everyone with a brain can see the night and day difference between Lowery with Weber/Painter players and Lowery with Lowery players. Lowery taught me a lot about not judging coaches until they perform with their own recruits.
In terms of Mullins, yea I am disappointed where we are but the program has been a dump for well over a decade now. Cant really fault him that he hasnt managed to fix it yet, now if in 3 years he still hasnt whatever, but honestly I admittedly have such a bias for Mullins from his playing days I dont know if Ill ever be able to call for his head, no matter how disappointed I am. But hey, hopefully that's a theoretical problem
Hard to link it from my phone, but there was an extended interview with Rodney Watson and Jevon Mamon posted by Reis today in which Mamon gave nice updates on Ebube and Wonders. At this point, they really, really need both of those guys to pan out nicely, plus other impact additions, to get this thing back on track.

I would like for the optimistic fans to weigh in on how they think we will be improved enough next year to turn the corner and compete for a Valley championship. Next year will be Mullins 4th year and by all accounts should be his best team but even then it will still be at best a middle of the pack Valley team, especially with the additions of Murray and Belmont. I need more of a reason to be optimistic than because of Covid the other 5 teams currently ahead of us are going to lose key experienced players, and that is going to suddenly make us a championship level team. We currently aren't a MVC championship level team we barley played .500 ball in the non-conference part of our schedule which was one of the weakest non-conference schedule's in school history. I really like Mullins he is a class act and I want nothing more than Mullins to be successfully but I have major concerns that we currently have the players to get to the top of the league in the foreseeable future.
I still firmly believe BM can coach a team to a MVC title if he can recruit more skilled players. With Cabe coming in, BM needs to get 3 of the the most skilled athletes available via portal, juco. I would hate to waste these Domask and Jones years.
