Where could he land if he doesn’t come back for a 5th year?  I think you have to start with the Wisconsin Badgers since he was raised in that state.

Northwestern is on the rise with Chris Collins and Purdue would also be an obvious fit.

My question is, would former Salukis hesitate to sign him based on the fact he plays for SIU?

Painter doesn’t really have a major  connection to Mullins (from what little I know), but Lowery certainly does.

At least for me, I think Big Ten would be the best fit.  I don’t see him going SEC or Big 12.

Northwestern looked great last night beating Rutgers on the road to come in 2nd place in the Big 10 and get the number 2 seed in their tournament. Chris Lowry has done a great job with their D.. they are tough.

Marcus isn't going anywhere ... because I said so!!

Domask feels like the perfect mid-major player for me.  Maybe he leaves for a lesser role on a high-major team with the opportunity to win but I think he just goes the international route and makes some money now if he's not back.  It would really suck if Domask finished his career in another college uniform.

It would be marvelous if Domask returns but he will certainly have options, either transferring to a power league or beginning a pro career. I agree it would be hard to watch him finish in another college uniform, and would complicate his Saluki legacy a bit, but he has been an outstanding four-year Saluki and is a smart/grounded enough kid that I'm sure he will make the decision that makes the most sense for his future priorities.

Regarding Lance ... another great kid who has done a lot in a Saluki uniform, but it's not as clear-cut to me about what makes the most sense from an SIU perspective. If we're stripping out the emotion, it's apparent there are some serious kinks in his game that are not conducive to championship-level basketball, and he is a large part of the team (minutes, shot attempts, ball in his hands, etc.). I don't think he'll have as many options as Marcus, but he'll have some.

I'd imagine we'll have a feel of how this is going to play out within the next two weeks or so, if not sooner.

Unless Marcus gets a professional opportunity, I believe he will be in a Saluki uniform next season.

Do you or anyone else know if Marcus has even a small NIL thingy at SIU where gets a little bit of money?

I don't know why SIU doesn't have a public SIU Basketball NIL fund right now but there's definitely NIL funding going on behind the scenes.

Mike Reis posted the Saluki career scoring leaders:

Domask is 473 points short of the record, he scored 550 points this year.

Jones would move up to Top 5, possibly between Mike Glenn and Anthony Beane too.

They should add “shirseys” like you can buy for your favorite NBA or MLB players. Maroon or white tshirts that say Salukis and look enough like the home jerseys but have the player’s name on the back. The NIL jerseys are cool but some of us don’t look good in jerseys and they aren’t practical to wear to games in the winter. But I would definitely rock a tshirt or long sleeved tshirt with a player’s name on the back. I would pay $35-40 especially if at least half that money went straight to the player. Same for football.

I would buy Domask, Jones & Ebube shirseys right now if they were available.

And if they look good, might purchase each in different colors.

If Reis knows which way the wind is blowing re: Domask and Jones, he didn't let on here.

Seems like Xavier Johnson has a good shot at being back at the very least
