Might not get much news for another week with Spring Break starting
With no announcements from a single player, I wonder if that means they’ve already decided to play in the CIT.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.
This is a critical decision for the eligible seniors. I would imagine, while I'm sure they've already done quite a bit of thinking, they might need more time to really consider their options to ensure they are making the best decision for themselves and their future. I wouldn't expect a decision on the 13th.

I guess they decided it wasn’t worth it. Hopeful for some news this week, from anyone. Haha.

Domask has fully earned the right to play at a higher level if he so chooses to try to improve his chances of playing professionally. I will support any decision he makes. He's been a great asset.
Every time this thread is bumped I have a mini heart attack.
Also, can anyone find any confirmation that CIT, now called the Basketball Classic is actually happening this year? Their website look like they've not been updated in a while.

Also, moving the NIT from MSG to Orleans Arena definitely loses any allure that tournament had left.
Saluki Insider? I barely know her!

No CIT. It's just the NCAA, NIT, CBI

LOL - just started listening to it. What a tease Mr. Reis is. 😅

Just finished Reis/Mullins. Good stuff. It’s 17 minutes long. Reis is tough but fair to him.
At one point, Mike asks/says to Mullins about Ebube, Ferguson and Hornecker all having offensive abilities and how that should increase our PPG next season.
Mullins immediately jumps in and adds Foster Wonders.
Thought that was interesting. It’s toward the end, final few minutes.

Reis does a great job as always and everyone should give it a listen. Just wanted to get that out there first 🤣
I thought there were some interesting things to take away from the interview. It was stated that X graduates in the fall. That means unless he doesn't play at all next year he will be back. He's not going to transfer and put off his graduation. He wouldn't be able to transfer and graduate in the fall at another university. Universities have a minimum number of hours required to be taken at that university in order to graduate.Reis with Mullins:

Also, I think he and the staff will know after next weekend whether Marcus, Trent and Lance will be back. He said he will have frank conversations with the seniors when they return this weekend. He said he has close, family relationships with all 3. Mullins will get finality during those exit interviews. That information may not be made public right away, but Mullins and his staff will be able to plan their recruiting accordingly.
Lastly, he stated he wants everyone back. That indicates no scholarships will be pulled. If anyone leaves it will be the player deciding to leave and not being told there are better opportunities for him elsewhere. Believe me, this happens and probably happened with Filewich last year.
Nice interview with some timely topics. Re: the Domask discussion, Reis mentioned things like the Saluki scoring records and NIL money ... those are legitimate considerations, but with the way Marcus is wired, I still think it would be much more likely he would return if he felt strongly that SIU is on the path to an NCAA bid next year. It's probably hard for him (or anyone) to make that calculation, especially without knowing yet who SIU will bring in this spring. Bottom line: while I think it's possible Marcus might decide to leave either way to pursue a new opportunity, I don't really see him coming back unless he strongly believes next year is likely to be a special year.
In general, Mullins was classy and said the right things, per the usual. My only beef continues to be with what I consider to be denial about the extent of the offensive woes. He basically chalked this year's offensive struggles up to not shooting well. Well, why does the offense lead to below-average shooters attempting so many 3s? I would have much rather heard something along the lines of, "We're doing a lot of things really well as a program, but we still are not productive enough offensively, and this offseason we're going to look at all aspects of what we do offensively and figure out a path to becoming a more well-rounded team."
Here's a stat to drive home the point: in SIU's five games against Drake and Bradley this year, Southern did not reach 60 points once. That's problematic and not just about cold shooting.

Starting to wonder if he’s one of those men who cannot openly admit when something he came up with does not work. It’s obvious to most people watching the team play.
I went back and looked at our Oklahoma St box score. We won something like 66-65, and Wonders and Ferguson each scored 3 points.
So those two were a key part in SIU’s biggest win of the season. And then we never heard from Ferguson again and Wonders only got about 4 minutes per game, if he played at all.
Frustrating and head-scratching to say the least. I hope it changes.
And it will have to quickly if Domask is done here.

Should know by Monday. Unless it leaks out tomorrow or something.
I wonder how this will go. Seems like we are waiting on quite a bit of important news, besides just the main two players.
I am assuming we are NOT gonna get bombarded with losing Domask, Jones AND other promising players etc.
Won’t be long now.
