Listening to the interview with Reis drove home one of the concerns I had earlier in the season. SIU's defense first philosophy is an inherent detriment to the NET rankings. The NET rewards wins where you score 10pts or more than your opponent. I think it would behoove someone on the staff to do a deep dive into what it would take to maximize their NET ranking, even if it's somewhat artificial.
Another critical thing I heard Reis stress is, while there is some offensive potential with some of the lesser used players, those players might only get more time, "if their defense is up to the Coach's standards". I point this out because so often people were asking why this, or that, player didn't play more. They have a full offseason to work on their D or jump in the portal and go play somewhere that D is not a MUST.
Today is the day. Just gonna be optimistic and hope that no news all this time means MAYBE most are coming back.
Guessing we find out about Domask and everyone else today. I assume Mullins found out this weekend, if he didn’t already know.

Personally I've felt it was more likely Marcus would not return and still feel that way, but if we're just going to speculate wildly (and why not on a message board?), maybe he came back from break wanting to talk through some things with Mullins before making a final call. No idea if that's the case, but if so, that would be cause for some hope.
Considering Lance and Trent also haven't said anything yet, it could also be that they're working on some sort of coordinated announcement.

Hell, I’m thrilled we haven’t had any Foster Wonders news yet. Although it’s probably coming.
I just find it very odd that we haven’t heard anything from any player. Staying or leaving. Not one. That’s weird.

Mullins didn't have his individual end of the season player meetings until the last few days due to the timing of SIU's spring break. Depending upon players schedules they may still not all be completed. We weren't going to hear anything before these individual meetings occurred, so I'm not terribly surprised. Not to mention that if a player is transferring, the school has 48 hours to submit it. Not every player will have an announcement. We could be surprised either way next year, but I really think next year will be special if we keep the core intact. (Especially Domask)
I don't have any inside information, but I think Domask and Jones will be back along with Wonders. Lance and Marcus have unfinished business.
As I mentioned in another thread, although I'm not positive, I don't believe we received our first portal notification last year until April 1st (Filewich). I think due to Spring break and the needed evaluations/discussions with coaching staff, family, friends/teammates as well as investigating alternate options, it may take a bit more time to sort this out.

If those two leave, and you add Wonders and/or Ebube, that’s a disaster IMO.I sure hope Mullins can convince them both to stay despite sitting here for 2 years with very little to show for it on the court.Maybe we will hear something next week. Losing a player like Ebube, who likely would have played a LOT more had he not been injured (scooting), would be a huge loss.
I REALLY hope they don't lose Ebube or Hornecker.
