Wednesday at Belmont 6:30PM - tougher opponent.
Belmont is brutal to play in Nashville. They just don't miss at home.
Could someone tell me what happened at the free throw line at the end of the game? Didn't he make both free throws but got credit for none?
All good.. Davis made his 2 FT, and the final score's correct... 69-66.Could someone tell me what happened at the free throw line at the end of the game? Didn't he make both free throws but got credit for none?
In the last five minutes of the game, those two FTs were the only points the Dawgs scored... yikes! Good thing the half wasn't 21 minutes long, or the Redturds would've passed us up and stolen this one.I was at the game and I thought it 69-66 before he shot his free throws. All good.. Very annoying second half. Agree with the earlier post that the lack of rest for key guys, especially X, has to be a factor in the pattern of poor offensive play late.
Amazing how little they’ve gotten from the four-man portal class.
Schedule is tough the rest of the way. We’ll see what they’re made of.
I agree with the lack of defense in the 2nd half but the offense had open looks that didn’t go down but in my opinion opinion someone has to be able to make a shot other than X in crunch time that would make things easier down the stretch a couple of times late AJ had a chance to go to the basket and passed it out but the biggest problem is keeping up the intensity after having big leads on defense but this is a disturbing trend and maybe now it is a confidence thing

Open looks not going down and drives not being finished late seems at least partially like a fatigue thing. You need your legs.

This likely is a significant contributing factor for why Mullins' teams struggle to advance in St Louis. He expects his teams to play very hard and at a very high level, particularly on defense, which is next to impossible to maintain for 40 minutes without a developed bench you can trust night in and night out. Now add in back to back games at the MVCt and SIU is at a big disadvantage. Too many key guys playing too many minutes all season long.
Going back in time, this could even be a reason why Lowery's really good teams generally underperformed at the Arch.

And in the context of this season, when it’s likely SIU will start on Thursday in St. Louis, it’s hard to see where the potential for a deep run exists when X is playing near-40 minutes a night at point guard against everybody on the schedule.
I get that Miller has been shaky and Sharp is a skinny true freshman but I just don’t see how the status quo gives you a reasonable opportunity to play well over a 3-4 day tournament run.
I am not a believer in tired legs in the days of 30 years ago yes I could buy in but with year round training and nutrition not to mention a trainer who designs a regimen for the season I believe the players are prepared for the grind of the season also with the amount of media timeouts per half I don't think players are as leg weary as they used to be but I will say a nagging injury or soreness is possible but again with trainers and strength and conditioning coaches these problems can be managed and I figure I am in the minority and probably people disagree with me but my father who has since passed always said 16 to 25 year olds should be in the best shape of their life and never be tired for what it's worth that is my 2 cents

If you want to believe Xavier Johnson’s offensive efficiency tanking in the late stages of games and his repeatedly losing his handle against pressure in several end-game scenarios has nothing to do with his intense usage at both ends of the floor, more power to you.
Why even have two point guards on the roster?
