I'm speechless, I've never been paid alot to coach basketball, but his strategy is not going to work. Why does he want 5 gaurds all the time? Why would you have players playing out out of position?This is hard to watch, it's obvious Mullins making mistake after mistake. Cade, Rupert, wonders need to be on the floor, Everybody is right on here, it's not negative banter. We have the talent to win, siu needs a hero!, Hopefully Mullins can adjust
One thing to remember is SIU is missing 2 big guys. Things could look a whole lot different when those two return.

Just to pile on a little bit, there is something dramatically wrong in the who plays when category. And when you are being killed inside and make no adjustments????? Maybe academic smarts and playing smarts do not translate to coaching smarts. I have said it before and here I go again, nepotism is not an answer for success.
Additionally, I had fans all around me calling for Rupert to be put back in the game. Even the casual fans could see the only few minutes of life shown in the game was when he was playing. High energy!!!
During the game:
Rodney Watson: "Indiana State has literally outscored us in the paint 2-to-1. Or 32-16 to be exact. You have to have a big man in there."
Mike Reis: "Wow, a two-bounce pass to Domask."

In an attempt to not be too negative for the apologists on here, I will say nothing and allow those quotes to speak for themselves.
Interesting. Strange how after a tough loss Mullins often laments about how he has to do a better job drawing up better shots for his guys, yet then states that he doesn’t need to make any offensive adjustments at all.

I don’t think it’s fair to say we got the short end here. I think Cade has serious talent and more upside/athleticism than Avila. Cade is getting no shot to show what he can do, so there’s really no room for comparison.
Again, all Cade does with the precious few minutes he gets is positively impact the game on both ends.

If the box score is correct, Rupert played 8 minutes. We played Troy or Marcus at the 5 80% of the game. I can’t make any sense of this.
Also, it seems Avila would have been a reasonable match up for Cade. Him not seeing the floor at all is frustrating.
I'd rather have Cade over Avila. Avila fits perfectly into what Indiana State does though. He can run the floor, pass the ball, defend multiple positions. I think Cade will be a good Valley player though.

It's true and it's old news. A lot of us knew about it at the time. To be clear, I'm not questioning our staff's talent evaluation. I still think it was the right decision to take Hornecker over Avila.
What I'm questioning is our use of talented big men. Indiana State starts their guy, while ours languishes on the bench (watching Trent Brown try to guard Avila in the paint). Unbelievable.
I’ve been pretty negative on here lately. I really just want our program to be very good again and it’s just not been happening for a long, long, long time.
Reis was right in the post-game to question Bryan about not playing Rupert in the crunch time, even though Bryan stated it was due to match-up problems and seemed a little annoyed that reis asked about it several times. He’s stubborn it seems but I’m hoping he can learn from these games. At some point, he has to realize that match-ups and defense aren’t the only thing that matters in a game.
However, I was very happy we battled back and took the lead. The team isn’t oozing with talent but I think we have the pieces to go on a good run and get stronger for MVC tourney. It was nice to see Foster play well. What a sweet stroke.
What makes a good coach at any sport at any level is to take your players and put them in position to be successful and unfortunately I currently do not see this playing out for whatever reason hopefully it will get straightened out.
