Agree. It's not a recruiting problem. The players are here that can win but they are not being used.
I’ve been pretty negative on here lately. I really just want our program to be very good again and it’s just not been happening for a long, long, long time.
Reis was right in the post-game to question Bryan about not playing Rupert in the crunch time, even though Bryan stated it was due to match-up problems and seemed a little annoyed that reis asked about it several times. He’s stubborn it seems but I’m hoping he can learn from these games. At some point, he has to realize that match-ups and defense aren’t the only thing that matters in a game.
However, I was very happy we battled back and took the lead. The team isn’t oozing with talent but I think we have the pieces to go on a good run and get stronger for MVC tourney. It was nice to see Foster play well. What a sweet stroke.
Credit Reis and Watson for pressing Mullins on Rupert only playing 8 minutes. If it makes anyone feel any better, Mullins finally sorta admitted it was a mistake. 😆
For those singing the praises of Robbie Avila....he wanted to come here and we turned him down. We signed Cade Hornecker instead.
I'm sure Avila is elated with the outcome. Hornecker probably wishes he'd gone somewhere else....and I don't blame him.
If this is true.................................
1. It's shocking news
2. What in the actual F !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What I'm questioning is our use of talented big men. Indiana State starts their guy, while ours languishes on the bench (watching Trent Brown try to guard Avila in the paint). Unbelievable.
I know SIU switches a lot but Brown ended up on Avila multiple times, it was maddening. I don't get how you can say playing small is because of matchups but Marcus Domask was the tallest player on the floor at times when they had 6'10 Robbie Avila on the floor.
Mullins, Xavier Johnson, Foster Wonders with the media:

Was it really Avila or Hornecker, only? They also gave scholarships to Newton, Johnson, and Ferguson.
Rupert was a +7 in 8 minutes
Wonders was a +11 in 20 minutes
Lance Jones: -17 in 27 minutes

You could tell Mullins wasn't happy with Reis/Watson coaching for him. Good questions though, especially Reis' about the substitutions and Rupert. Seems like Mullins was concerned with Avila's ability to shoot 3's but he took one 3 all game and went 6-8 in the paint. I guess the substitutions worked in that case keeping Avila from shooting 3's but he scored 12 points on you from 2.
@salukiworld Lance did not have a good game but more times than not he will win games for us. The reason we lost is playing the 5 guard lineup when we needed someone in the paint to prevent the easy shots. I do absolutely agree that Rupert and Wonders are players that need to play a lot. Rupert just playing 8 minutes was why we lost this game.
BM obviously didn’t coach Krutwig. Good luck keeping Cade and any future big men. When Ebube and Mullia are back they will all be splitting the 8 minutes. Hard to watch the 5 guards dribble around the 3 point line and finally get blocked at the rim.
I've been a huge Mullins supporter and it pains me to say it but this game is on him. I hope he adjusts.

Doubtful. It will be Muila getting 30 minutes with Rupert, Ebube, and Hornecker splitting the other 10.
Is there a chance the lad is in over his head, particularly with his present assistants?
@fraydog This is a 17-13 group as they are currently constructed and led…that better?

Here’s the thing: there is more than enough talent to win this conference on this roster.
It just needs to be utilized much better.
hard disagree on this. Drake is clearly better.
