The difference in ball and player movement between the teams is wide. Indiana State runs really good offense. Southern … not so much. And the turnovers add insult to injury.
Defensively, the ball pressure is weak and there’s no rim protection with these tiny lineups. If you’re going to suck offensively, this level of D is sure as hell not going to cut it.
Better see a vastly different team in the second half or they’ll be likely to get 3K for these upcoming weak opponents.
I'm all for a defense-minded coach, but any coach or leader needs to know how and when to adapt - Mullins and his staff do not seem willing to do that.
If this team adapted, like going big when we're getting destroyed on the boards or by putting in Brown and Wonders and telling the guys to shoot on first touch, we could be so good - yet none of that happens.
Well,I had a bad feeling about this game after watching ISU vs Drake, but this exceeds all expectations.
I can guarantee one thing, if i was Hornecker, there is no way in hell i'd stay here next year. I'm going somewhere that has a coach that will at least put a big man in the game. Mullins refuses to play a big, it blows my friggin mind. I don't get it.
i don’t care what the hell is happening in practice, all Cade’s done is have positive impacts every time he’s actually been allowed to participate. Mind-blowing.
Don't get why they burned the redshirt if they aren't going to play him. Indiana State was playing very small and SIU matched them though. Domask was the tallest guy on the court for awhile for SIU.
Just can’t fathom why it’s not a consideration to go big and dump it to the blocks when your opponent goes so small and you have a 7 footer with offensive ability just chilling on your bench. Especially when you’re getting back-doored to death with no one at the rim to even make a cutter think twice.
Feed the big fella and let him work!

I too would like a complete overhaul of the assistant staff.
I doubt Mullins brother challenges him, Mamon is in his first coaching gig, and Monaghen seems to just be there to recruit the Great Lakes, which granted is a nice pipeline to have.
Mullins is channeling his inner Billy Donovan with some of these rotations.
You have size, Bryan. USE IT.
If we start the second half with a small lineup I may throw something
Wow, they're blowing us out and didn't hit any better from 3 than we did.

Difference was free throws, Indiana State got to the basket and got fouled
SIU provided glimmer of hope then missed layup and 3 by Jones and it remains ugly.
Jones has taken a step back this year
Christmas list:
1. Healthy Ebube
2. Assistant coach who knows how to run an offense
Ebube has played a total of 8 minutes..........against one of the worst teams in the country. I'm hopeful that he can get healthy and provide meaningful minutes but I don't think he's a miracle worker, especially considering he is NOT an offensive player and SIU needs scorers.
Fair enough, but at this point I’d take even a warm body who can play defense and be just somewhat of a scoring threat in the post.
Back to back 3's with NO one around to grab a rebound.

I think everyone here realizes that except the staff. pathetic. the rotation doesn't work. make a damn change. and yes it's time to clear out some assistants. it mostly worked for Nick a few years ago. doing the same old thing isn't working tonight and it working overall.
Craving a McBride Special!
Settling for the hero shots here. Calm down and drive it like Johnson just did. There's over 15 minutes left
