I hadn't seen another mentioned Howard. My bad.

Haha I didn't see your post either...kind of regurgitated the coaching tree you laid out. Feels like it fits so much given he was under GREAT coaches.
Mullins gets 360,000 to use on assistants. I dont know how much Mamon gets paid but Brendan Mullins gets $140,000. I also don't know if Graduate assistants get paid out of that pot, either.
Not sure how we afford a big name with that but it must be said 100-120k goes a long way in Carbondale IL... A lot further than say, Austin, Texas.Mullins gets 360,000 to use on assistants. According to SIU salary database in 20-21 PM was making 115k and JM was making 105k, which would get you to the 360k. Maybe Mullins needed to get the okay to bump up the pay scale a bit to get the new assistant coach and that's why it took so long? Regardless, I'm anxiously awaiting this announcement.
Again, if this is true there is just no way his seat is as hot as has been suggested. If they bumped pay for him to hire someone big, it shows support for Mullins not that his seat is warm...According to SIU salary database in 20-21 PM was making 115k and JM was making 105k, which would get you to the 360k. Reading up on Jerrance Howard, and holy cow, does he owe someone a favor?
He is an Illini grad. Known as one of the best recruiting coaches in the nation.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.
Not allowing myself to even believe it until it is official. It seems unrealistically good. This is what we need in the portal era.Reading up on Jerrance Howard, and holy cow, does he owe someone a favor?

I think Barkeep was saying that the pressure was more from the donor base not the AD (please correct me here if I'm wrong here, don't want to put words in your mouth). I also have no idea if they were trying to get a salary pool increase or not. If they hope to keep him long term, I think they will need to pay him more than PM, maybe something closer to Brendan.
If you believe what was posted some time ago on illinoisloyalty site, JH was making over $400K at Texas.
his salary was public knowledge, it was just over 400k.If you believe what was posted some time ago on illinoisloyalty site, JH was making over $400K at Texas.
If Howard was making $400,000 a year recently at Texas, I don’t see any way Southern lands him.
It doesn’t make any sense. At all.
This is the type of downward move that someone who got arrested or something embarrassing and had to start over, or like Pitino and the Mo State football coach, who had to start over so to speak.

ListenI am going to guess LaVall Jordan, formerly HC for Butler.
Although he spent most of his assistant time under Lickliter at Butler then Iowa and 6 seasons at Michigan with Beilein and not sure if people would call those "great" coaches.
If it’s him. I would be excited. Very curious how SIU could afford him.
I mean you obviously can’t pay him more than Bryan’s brother makes on staff, which I assume is over $100,000.
The only Mullins the new assistant can't be paid more than is named Bryan
is he the big ten assistant coach of the year? he likes snacks.Nickname is "Snacks".
Howard last tweeted on Feb. 25, it is a reply, saying he was moving to Dallas and asked about a certain school to enroll his son in.
