@carrcar yes that is true I would like to know if that was by design or lack of confidence by the shooter or predictability at any rate would like to a little more productivity to take pressure of the defense

Good conversation between Mullins and Reis…Mullins confirms Ben Harvey is moving on from basketball. Feel really bad for how things turned out for him, now off to do great things in life!

A few other items that I thought were notable:
- Sounds like Mullins expects Domask to recover from foot surgery in time to have a mostly healthy summer/fall.
- Mullins confirmed they intend to play at a quicker tempo. Hallelujah.
- There weren't many details about the schedule, but sounds like they're looking to add a buy game and overall want to play a pretty challenging schedule (which you'd hope for with a veteran team).
Mullins likes Ferguson’s potential and thinks he was under-recruited out of high school because of COVID. Think this is going to be a theme going forward with the portal being such a huge influence. High school guys might be under-recruited by high majors looking to make more of a splash in the portal. JUCOs and D2’s are going to benefit from this.

Watching some tape on Ferguson it becomes crystal clear why Mullins and staff are high on him. He certainly looks the part; size, athleticism, skill. Maybe his high school being relatively knew and unknown for basketball contributed to his under-recruitment as well?

He's probably the biggest unknown of the Spring signees, but one thing that stood out in the interview was Coach saying he was the #1 defender on his team. That alone will get him some minutes.
Sounds like Hornecker might be in the rotation. This is going to be an exciting year.

I figured he would be. I just don’t think he’s a guy you redshirt, regardless of need to gain weight.
I'd guess they don't know Hornecker's role until he gets on campus. I don't really anticipate a redshirt though but think he'll need a little time to develop throughout the season.

Concerning his role: Everyone assumes he will be a center, but if he is a decent shooter, there is no reason he couldn't be a 4.

Sure ... if he's quick enough to guard guys like Donovan Clay and Kendall Lewis.

True, but there's always a trade-off. Can Clay or Lewis guard a 6'11" shooter? Do we gain more from his offensive gain while conceding his ability to defend a player like Clay?

No, he would get beat on every possession and we don't play a zone.

7' shooter, let's don't "short" change him! 😉

But our team is generally pretty good at help defense and rotating over. As mentioned before, we have to guard them. They also have to guard us. If the mismatch favors us more than other teams, they will have to sub another big as well. It could happen with us playing two bigs, especially with Muila and Edube being the quicker type bigs. Not to mention, you could have Hornecker guard the 5 and Edube/Muila guard the 4. Then Hornecker still play the 4 on offense.
